I noticed that. I was getting excited about seeing the little garter snake.

What part of KY. I lived and worked in the Ashland area for years. I also spent a lot of time in the Florence area.

richmond about 20 miles south of lexington. This was actually in a parking lot with apartments on one side and a few stores on the other. I gathered up a few and relocated them because a lot of the people from those apartments came down and told me that they were going to kill any that came near them.

Development sucks. I never seen large numbers of garters like that. Very cool.

It was still fairly cold out and they weren't super active. most of them actually crawled onto the pavement to warm up. I'm surprised I didn't see any that were ran over. it was pretty neat before I got out my camera there were probably 30 or 40 just sitting out in the open. as far as I could tell there were at least 4 exits they were coming from all of them around old stumps. I guess the root system created a good sized cavern for all of them.

There were a couple places like this where I grew up. you could actually smell the musk before you could see where it was coming from

Bad news apparently sometime after I left the someone came out and poured cement down the holes and then piled a bunch of dirt over the whole area. I assume it was whoever owns the apartments. I think most if not all of them had already gotten out.

Awwww shit !!! I hope the majority got out. It's what happens when we allow ourselves to be found out. This is the kind of thing makes me dislike the human race in general.

Good, that just means they'll have to relocate come fall. I hope they find a safer place.

Sad thing is come fall they will come back to the hibernaculum they've been coming to for generations and probably won't find another suitable one.

I was excited when I first started reading this thread. Spring coming, herps on the move yea baby.:wamma::wamma:

Now I'm just pissed at the morons that did that. It's not like they were rattlesnakes, just harmless garters. :asshat:

This is ridiculous. This serves no purpose other than destroying nature.
