So, I've been a snake gal since I was like 10 (I told my parents I'd have a snake, they didn't believe me lol). So Boyfriend is not keen on snakes, he's actually terrified of them and the cute story before this one was that I wrote and photographed a book on ball pythons husbandry, the book had 70+ pictures of snakes in the manuscripts he HELPED ME EDIT haha. He is so good to me.

Anyway, I got into geckos, and he enjoys them. Wilson (seen in other threads) was my first gecko and Boyfriend really liked him. He'd hold wilson, and he holds my other geckos now but only if I've already taken someone out.

I'd been talking about getting a bearded dragon for like a year, and I finally got one in january. A bitty baby. Boyfriend would hold him or pet him if I had him out, he'd feed him when I was away and it was OHSO adorable.

Anyway, fast forward to tonight and he went and picked up the dragon (Wasabi) ALL BY HIMSELF OMG OMG OMG (after asking if it was ok haha).

I needed to share my joy with someone who would understand. And that concludes my story :D

Won't be long at all and he'll be helping you pick out your new snake!!!

Very cool, slowly but surely they are winning him over!

That's how ya do it, slow and easy.

Then I met my wife . It's been 20 plus years and she still cringes whenever anybody brings a snake into the room with her. :dunno:

Sounds like BF may end up being a "keeper"

I think he did it partly for me (he knows how happy it makes me to see him pay attention to my lizards) but for him to actually go over there, open the cage and pick him up was special to see.

I don't think he'll ever like the snakes, but I do think he might end up getting into the geckos.

He's a keeper for more reasons than that haha, even if he didn't want anything to do with the herps, he lets me go on my reptile binges and own whatever I want. He's kind enough to put up with it

I am HOPING that I can get him to help me amass my collection. I tested the waters the other night since I've got a few trade offers for different gecko species for the SITBs ive got for sale. I tried asking him "Hunny, which geckos do you like the best?" Didn't work lol.
