Over the last year or so I've been shipping using my personal fedex certified account which has gone really well. I've never really had any problems besides an increase in cost as of late, for whatever reason (probably fuel cost) shipping prices keep getting higher and higher.

I used SYR in the past but after getting certified with Fedex I just continued to use my personal account. After talking with Robyn here recently, I went over to the SYR site and compared a shipping quote with a box I just shipped out using my personal fedex account and sure ehough there was a big difference in price. I realize it will probably vary from shipment to shipment but for this particular shipment I could have save more than 20% if I used SYR.

With that extra savings in mind, I'll be shipping all my future shipments out using SYR. I'm no high volume shipper by any means but I do enjoy a little extra savings.

For those of you that are fedex certified and currently use your personal account to ship, go over to SYR compare the quotes. Chances are you'll save some money as well...

I'm not so sure about that. I just checked a shipment I did last week. I paid $61.98 on my certified account.

I just got a quote through SYR and it's $65.14

We noticed the same thing Larry and the last few weeks instead of using our own account we have been using SYR. We have shipped 8 packages and it shows our total savings on there is $150 exactly! Good enough for us to continue using SYR!

A lot of the time the quote you get is always higher then the amount you pay, some times we get a quote and then book the shipment and it's ten bucks cheaper.

I just wish they had the hold at location option available. That's probably the best option that FedEx offers and it's not available with the SYR interface.

Thanks for the post Larry, we have always appreciated your support and enthusiasm, along with the rest of the Bush League.

Garweft, there is no toggle switch "hold at facility" button, but you can use the "find location" link to pull up an actual address and ship to a facility that way. Just include a "c/o Customer Willie- Hold at facility" line on your label. That is quite common. It ensures an early morning arrival.

As for the rates, it is all relative. As the immortal Hulk Hogan says "everybody cuts their own deal"-------- "brother!"

Your FedEx account rate is affected by your volume. Your SYR rate can be as well. When you hit 50 packages shipped with us, that is a milestone (to me). 100 packages, another one. Some customers have actually shipped 1000+ packages in the past year.

We offer a great public rate over the UPS/FedEx retail price. The more you ship, the more flexibility it gives us.

That goes along with the other benefits to shipping with SYR- residential delivery, on time guarantee, million-dollar-shipper customer service for everyone, and coming soon- live arrival insurance(!).

Let me say again how much we appreciate the support of Larry and the folks on the Bush League.

SYR is still the way to go. It usually saves money but SYR deserves our support as well. No more questions like 'what happens if they find out what is in the box?' It is always good to support anything that promotes our hobby.

I also have switched to SYR from my regular account and am consistently saving 15% or more.

I'll throw my endorsement into the hat also, the discount I get with SYR can be pretty nice when I have to ship across the country.

I've been on board with SYR since the UPS days..............was nice to see that my account info was all still there when they switched to FedEx. Shipping to Cali tomorrow and the discount was significant compared to my personal FedEx account.

We will be using a combo of our account and SYR. We get a really good discount with Fed Ex but sometimes SYR is cheaper. We'll be using who ever gives us the best deal it's all the same carrier.

i was thinking the same thing. I havent used SYR after UPS, i set up my own small business live shipping account with fedex and when signing up, i got a 16% discount, which i have heard is normal savings for every small business that sets up with fedex small business. I liked SYR, but i just dont see the savings anymore...

I have been a fan of SYR even back when it was with UPS, FedEx on the table just makes it better...I have my own account with FedEx but haven't had to ship anything lately but I will check out the prices when I do for sure now...

Thanks for the reply Robyn, I thought of that after I posted. Funny enough that's how I used to do all my 'hold for pickup' deliveries, so you'd think I would have remembered that.

I really miss using UPS with SYR, but am coming around to FedEx. I was die hard UPS for years, but if they don't want our business, I have no problem going to someone that does, even if the prices are a little higher.
