Well, my old computer has been dying a slow death the last few months. Locking up a lot, rebooting itself randomly, slow as a dial up. I have run several different clean up programs to no avail....it's an E machince, so enough said about that one. My husband got me a new computer for Christmas (not an Emachine :D) for Christmas, and I have spent the last 2 days trying to transfer everything over (pics, documents, records, etc.) So big question to all you computer guys, how do I transfer all of the emails I want to save with out having to email them all to myself? Thanks.

Burn the text files to a CD or DVD, or save them on a USB flash drive.

Yeah, can you give a step by step, cause so far I have not been able to move them...

Are they saved in something like WordPad or Microsoft word? If so...locate the files, open the USB flash drive in "my computer"... drag and drop.

Nope, they are all in Outlook Express in different folders, which I can't find thru explorer...

I have no clue sorry...But congrats on the new computer

Thanks. Once I get it all set up, I will be really happy.

Congrats on the new puter. I copied my emails to save on a document, then took those and put them on a flash drive to transfer to my new computer when I got it last year. Good luck.

Thanks Liz. Having to adjust to windows vista....it is just different enough that I have to look for things, but I am figuring it out.

Assuming your old pc is still up and running ?
Go to options on outlook express, and i think theres a tab marked store location, it shows the path to your email files, they are i think .dbx files
Copy those files to a flash drive/cd and you should be able to import into windows mail.
Its a few years since i used OE and i'm a bit rusty -)
Good luck

Get a portable hard drive and transfer it to that.I have one and its good to have just in case.
It would be good for your hubby to have if he is using recording software with his studio also.

the easiest way would be just transfer all information from your old drive onto your new one. put your old drive in your new comp also and either leave it or just transfer all info onto the new drive then un hook it. i never use up cds or dvds i just transfer all of my data from one hard drive to the next.
