Sadly, my salmon DH sunglow that was paired with my jungle het albino, started birthing today....so far three perfectly formed but dead babies and a whack of slugs and two partially formed babies. Looking at these pics I see snow but I am by no means an expert on calling all the morphs. Can someone take a look and verify?? (I was expecting at best albinos/jungles....) I am devastated of course that the babies are stillborn but on a good note (if there is one) she definitely proved out something...I was not expecting this pair and what appears to be an anery. The patterning (to me) on both white babies also appears jungle. Can someone help me correctly identify?? She is still delivering whatever is left but I am not holding out much hope based on what I found so far :dunno: No kinking or 'odd' areas that I could find when I examined them...they are laying a little weird in the pics because its how I placed them.

They look a little premature. That would explain the color not being all the way in. I have seen premature clutches happen when there are a lot of slugs.
I think you have a jungle sunglow there and a nice jungle, maybe a hypo jungle but with the color not being in I am not sure. Besides this computer the color is off on. I'll look again later on the other computer.

Thank you. I posted on RC too and Legend Boas advised the same. I guess I just felt albino would have more colour outside of white and pink but prematurity would factor in.... So saddened by this....she is such a beautiful mom.

Sometimes this just happens. But I might be able to help find out what you can change for her next year.
First how many females was the male with? If it was more than 2 this could be the problem.
Check you winter temps. If the male is to warm I have found a reduction in sperm count.
Did you feed her a fair sized meal recently? This could also cause them to deliver prematurely.

I actually had all the boas up for sale and had decided to hold back any females that were likely gravid. She wasn't moved in the last few months but sadly we did move homes mid winter up here in Alberta, -30 celsius the week we moved and all my snakes were exposed to inconsistent temps for about a three weeks period while the new snake room was being built. I'm pretty sure that is the biggest issue. She did eat recently but I have been offering only very small rats as I knew without a doubt that she was gravid. Input on the other forum suggests she is now triple het moonglow because of the definite anery (jungle anery) in the litter too so I am thrilled at THAT news at least. Like I said, I was moving out of boas and exclusively into ball pythons but am now feeling I may retain the jungle albino male and this female, perhaps one other. My temps etc are now spot on again so it shouldn't be an issue were I to breed her again eventually. Thanks for your input :) Do you agree with the triple het moonglow call??

I can't tell if it is an anery jungle or hypo jungle. It's hard for me since they are premature and the color on the computor. I would breed them again when she regains her weight.

I don't know if an accurate call can be made due to the premature babies. It is definitely a breeding to do again. Once you know the snake is gravid you can feed small meals early on but I would not feed anything during the last month.

Thanks again for all the input. Other than cleaning out the initial mess I have left her alone today. Can a boa ever 'start' to deliver and then manage to go full term with the rest because I swear she is still retaining some... She is still very restless and skin stretched out....mean as all get out if I approach her which makes me feel she may have something still going on.

Yes that has happend 4 fimes for me. Most of the time if it a large slug she can't push out. Once I did get a live baby and the other time the babies were dead.
