Jamie I know this probably isn't the best time to say this now that's it's all over with. Dogs dig out because there bored and they have to much built up energy. Along with this comes chewing. If you decide to get another dog or if you have more you can easily correct this problem by exercise. If you have somewhere they can run free and burn all that energy off you will see a totally different dog. I have 4 100+ dogs and I had the same problem... My dogs got out and got two of my nieghbors cats and I about lost my dogs to animal control. SO I contacted a specialist and since I have taken them on there walks twice a week to an area where they can be turned loose and run free for a little bit I now have no digging , obedience training and all in all 4 totally different dogs.

I know alot of people don't have time to do this with there dogs but you can also walk them on a tred mill and once they get used to it they can walk on it by themselves. I hope this helps for future cause I know how much you love your animals and I know you will get another dog.

Sorry for your loss bro..
