I took a walk around at a local swamp conservation place and took a bunch of pics with my new camera. I've definitely got a lot to learn and assuredly need a better lense with more zoom.

Love the place . Makes me want to visit the bayou . Last time I was there it was dried up dead but I bet it is lively now . We have those tiger beetles all along the hiking trail now.
Froggie better watch out . I like the big pix with the leetle lizards on the bark . Gives the illusion of herping as I sit here . Thanks . Realized I have been too busy this week and need some time in the woods.

Thanks everybody. This is my favorite local place to go and when I go I walk super slow to see every possible thing I can find. This was my first time out with the new camera so I was excited I was able to see so much.

Quig I hadn't seen any in years myself until the other night I saw a small one by the house then this
one. I almost missed him if it hadn't been for a skink running behind where it was at.

Sputnik I'm right there with you...can't say I've ever thought slugs were cool until I saw that one!

Tfs thanks a lot that's what I was aiming for...if you notice I did it with some snake shots too...

Randy this is Bluebonnet Swamp on Bluebonnet Blvd past the Mall of Louisiana. It's crazy how this much wildlife is in such close proximity to such a busy city but its a great place to go!

Really remarkable pictures and subjects!
So very different than here in MN. I love all the critter shots but I especially dig the up close of the tree!
Are there certain times of the year you see more diversity than others?

Usually mid to late spring seems to be the best time for me. They're over trying to breed and lots of babies are starting to come out. I went about 2 months ago and there wasn't much out and hardly any vegetation...it almost looked like a different place this time.
