Hello Group,
Well figured I would do as asked and introduce myself. My name is Robert DuBois, though I go by BobDuB in most places online, just call me Bob, I am currently 26. I live up in central Maine; I am the current President of the Maine Herp Society. I have been into reptiles since about 2003. I currently have 35 snakes plus offspring. I have kept a few other legged pets, but seem to prefer the legless for now.
Right now I am in the change between just a reptile pet keeper and a true reptile breeding hobbyist. I have had three successful seasons breeding corns. What I have bred so far have just been the pets I had on hand. I have started acquiring more snakes for the purposes of breeding, which is what I consider going from pet keeper to breeding hobbyist. Currently I am keeping a kingsnake, 8 corn snakes, 4 carpet pythons, 18 ball pythons, a Red tail boa, and a pair Hogg island boas.
I have been in the Maine Herp society (MHS) for just about as long as I have had reptiles; though only truly active in it the past two years. The position of President became open this summer and I have stepped in trying to help further a few causes and help out with the society as much as possible. We currently have a very restricted list of what we are allowed to have in Maine and a government that doesn’t seem to mind ignoring the reptile populace in the state. We also host the only reptile show in the state of Maine each August and make an appearance in the two shows in New Hampshire each year.
Finally my funding method for all this is my day job. I work as an architectural drafter, in Maine’s third largest A/E firm. I specialize in the Education area, we just finished the first (cross my fingers it gets this rating, waiting on paper work) LEED Platinum Lab in the state of Maine, and one of the first in the country.
Well in one post that pretty much covers it for now.
