View Full Version : Spider in my house
wolfyhound 12-29-2008, 02:37 PM Here's a spider I found in my house( it was dead when I found it, I try not to ever kill spiders, even giant creepy ones ).
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v660/wolfy-hound/IMG_3268.jpg
I think it's a huntsman type. They are huge fast creepy spiders that exist to make me squeel like a little girl.
*OT: Did I make the pic small emough?*
Varanette 12-29-2008, 02:43 PM EWWWWWWWWW.....Glad it was dead.....soooo would have had to call Big V in to remove that...he won't kill them either.....just moves them to ANOTHER LOCATION....IN....THE....HOUSE!!!!!!!!! *shivers*
Sputnik 12-29-2008, 03:17 PM Yeah, some type of huntsman
JOHNS6068 12-29-2008, 03:34 PM Wow that's a big spider!!!!
Mrs. Sputnik 12-29-2008, 03:38 PM Cool looking spider and I dont kill them either just let them be
Copperkid 12-29-2008, 03:39 PM Ive always liked them (to a limit) but Ive never seen one like that lol. How big was it?
NoahHart 12-29-2008, 03:50 PM Huntsman bites can be atrocious I would spray my house if I found that.
tokaysunlimited 12-29-2008, 03:57 PM Not a hunstman!
Looks like a male Rabidosa hentzi.Cant count on the exact I.D.
But its definatly in the Rabidosa genus.
And if it was a huntsman the bites are not that bad were it would be medically significant.Unless it was a introduced species.Wich there are a few from Cuba etc.,that would leave a nice sized swelling.
147BOAS 12-29-2008, 04:00 PM thats is so cool
FloridaHogs 12-29-2008, 04:02 PM **shiver**
beclende 12-29-2008, 04:04 PM Gives me the willies. That wouldn't have lived long if I had found it in the house. Outside = cool inside = end of the line.
NoahHart 12-29-2008, 04:06 PM Sorry guess the more toxic ones are in Australia. I still wouldnt want to get bit.
MarkS 12-29-2008, 04:08 PM I'm not sure what a Rabidosa hentzi is, it looks like a wolf spider to me. Is that the same thing?
NoahHart 12-29-2008, 04:13 PM Wolf spiders can have a nasty bite too. Im no spider expert but that doesnt look like any of the pics I see of the hentzi. Maybe im looking at old pics or something.
If I found that in my house I would not have to worry about killing it since I would have a heart attack I'm sure..... :)

Well dont quote me on the exact I.D..
And dont take what i say is a nasty bite and what isnt.
The people that know me know that i have been tagged by more then my share of insects and arachnids.

Showing the size better. I see these in the house pretty often, and yes.. this big.. yes scary creepy eek eek.
Not a spider lover either but I am getting better and won't run from the room anymore.
FloridaHogs 12-29-2008, 07:56 PM Looks like one of those spiders that run across the top of my mother in laws pool
Larry's ol' Lady 12-29-2008, 08:42 PM OMG..I would die!
tokaysunlimited 12-29-2008, 09:16 PM Not a spider lover either but I am getting better and won't run from the room anymore.
A package of T's always cures that.
For the love of God, I would move if it were me! I do have a tarantula in a cage but if that thing was loose in my house I would possibly burn it to the ground......

HOW THE HELL YA BEEN?:yessir:
If I found it before the wife did, it would live out it's life somewhere. Now if she found it first it would immediately wind up a grease spot on the floor.

That's a little dramatic don't ya think?? Just kididng I know how some hate spiders..I live with one who would possibly burn the house down also
wolfyhound 12-30-2008, 07:24 AM I've gotten in the shower before, all happy hot water.. turned and there was one on the wall about 6 inches from my nose... squeeling and sitting on top of the shower curtain rod.. not dignified at all.
JChandler 12-30-2008, 07:28 AM That is pretty cool! The size only adds to how cool it is
I can tell you it's a spider but that's about as far as my knowledge goes
Varanus99 12-30-2008, 07:35 AM I like spiders. I never kill them. I just move them around to where they will be most useful. V-nette doesnt like it but my gang of 8 legged killers was very handy during the Fruit Fly Fiasco.
That one is a big boy!

Not at all! I get asked all the time how can I like snakes and be so scared of spiders? I guess it goes back to my dad and like I said I have a tarantula to try and help me get past this. I got the thing thinking they dont live long but at the rate it is going I think it might out live me!

I know a lot of folks who are scared of spiders and keep snakes, lizards, other creepy crawlies. But for some reason a spider just flips them out.
Pretty ballsy to go ahead and get a tarantula to try to get over it. And yeah those guys can live a VERY long time :D
Side note: When Stan Lee created Spider-Man he brought the story to his publisher who said "Stan, we cant print this. People HATE spiders! No one is going to read this!". So Stan managed to sneak the story into a book called Amazing Fantasy (A collection of different stories) pretty much against his publishers wishes. The rest is history.

.
EEEWWWWW Yeah he moves them to the LIZARD area.....Then he wonders why I really don't like going up there all the time...I never knwo what I'm going to walk in to....Even had one chillin in the shower.....I got soap in my eyes several times trying to watch him so I can hurry and get outta the shower....
I hate SPIDERS!...uuuggghhhhh!!!!!!!!!!
KordeksKritters 12-30-2008, 09:42 AM See, I'm with Phil on this one...I am not afraid to admit that spiders flip me out above every other type of bug out there. I stick my hands in cricket cages, bins of thousands of mealworms and superworms, even play with the dead rats (live ones dont bother me either), but a spider - hell no!
I think it comes from being a little girl who lived in Puerto Rico (dad was a navy man), and we had this big cinder block wall holding up the back porch...there were too many times that my brother or I would stick our hands in/through the holes only to find a big tarantula sitting there on it's back legs ready to strike at us.
Yeah, I hate spiders. And as much as I agree with Phil, I would NEVER own one to try to get over my fear. That sounds almost as silly to me as jumping out of a plane to get over my fear of heights LOL
I used to be terrified of spiders but have gotten over it for the most part.

That's me!!! I worked with the rose hair in the pet store, but it never seemed to help.
And yeah those guys can live a VERY long time
Thanks for the great news! It was an adult when I got it and it has been about 5 or six years now.......
Varanus99 12-30-2008, 06:00 PM Thanks for the great news! It was an adult when I got it and it has been about 5 or six years now.......
You're Welcome! I hope you two will be very happy together!
Southern Wolf 12-30-2008, 06:15 PM I dont do spiders.... I would rather look a cobra in the eye than be in a room with a loose spider.
Nope... cant do it.
