I've never seen or heard of this happening but I just had a BP lose a spur...He was a CL pickup(got him a few weeks ago) that was in pretty bad shape..scale rot and such..cleared up the scale rot, he shed, ate VERY aggressively(he's now one of my best feeders), and now I'm handling him 2 weeks later and his spur just comes off...anyone ever hear of anything like this happening??

Thats weird. I have never heard of that before.

I had a pastel that only had one spur..........didn't affect his breeding - he got along just fine. He was like that when I bought him so I'm not sure how/when it came off.
If your snake had severe scale rot, it makes sense that it could affect something like the spurs. All in all, snakes are pretty resilient. They can no doubt live and prosper without a spur or spurs. Good job on clearing up the scale rot though.......good luck with him!

I've actually been taking a closer look at it and it seems like there is a little white fleshy spur where the hard piece came off. I talked to someone else who said that it can happen that they just lose the hard part...weird..I'm sure he'll be fine tho.

Yep, I have a male that has one missing right now, here is a pic...
This male is approx. 15 years old, and you can sort of see where the second spur should be, but is missing.

i heard that too. shouldnt affect em in any way.
i had a albino boa which bred a female and afterwards couldnt get the hemipenis back in. in the end the doc had to remove it. the next year he bred again and had no problems at all.
i think it has something with the scale rot and the generally bad shape to do too.
he should be fine tho

I have a female with only one spur too - doesn't seem to affect her in anyway either.
