I hide out New Years Eve. I learned long ago its amateur night. People who dont drink all year feel obligated to go out and get obliterated on that night. And bad things happen. Its a zoo out there. Not me. You need me Ill be under the bed.

I'll be working also. Which means I'm on the road with all the drunks. I'm going to leave the house about 11 so I will miss all of the idiots shooting off their guns.

Well since this is my first New Years in the house here (last year I was in the hospital after having the baby on 12/29), I will finally get to take part in the big town celebration of dropping a huge lighted up PICKLE at midnight. Yes, a big pickle made out of some sort of signage stuff covered in Christmas lights gets dropped at the town square. From what I understand, the pickle looks very similar to the Planter's peanut guy, top hat and all, but he's a pickle and not a peanut. They have a big wooden statue of him in another part of town. We live in Dillsburg. Get it? LOL
Apparently this is a huge deal for everyone. Plus, the coolest part about it is that we live right on the town square, so we don't even need to go outside to see it, just look out the window! Which is a REALLY good thing considering it is supposed to be freezing and windy and nasty (maybe even snow), and I hate that combination of weather stuff.
A few of the other towns around do things like a big wrench (for Mechanicsburg), a big bologna (for Lebanon), and a few other fun ones that I can't think of right now. Welcome to Pennsylvania!
So, yeah, a big lit up pickle, hanging out with the kids, then crashing. And I'll be doing it sober - I'm not a drinker, plus the kids will be awake, and I don't drink in front of them.
I keep realizing - a big lighted up pickle....this town is so weird. LOL
