Looks that way to me! Wonder the future holds for this specimen.

Awesome, but sounds like he may practicably give the snake away when not knowing its potential value.the person who was offering to take it off his hands sounds like he may take advantage of a noob.

It is a nice looking albino. Has what appears to be a nice faded pattern.

Animals like that wind up in the wrong hands all too often... Sounds like the one who found it is not going to give it up... It also sounds as if he does not know what he is doing with the animal... Wild caught easterns do not acclimate to captivity very well unless you really know what you are doing with the species... Too bad it did not fall into hands like Jeneas, or some other capable keeper...

As far as the future goes, there have been a few morph easterns found includings albinos, scaleless, and that leucistic... So far, we have seen nothing in the way of easterns gaining popularity and we have not seen a reproduction of the morphs... I do not see Easterns "blowing up" and becoming the next Western, thats for sure...

You may be right and that would be tooooo bad but potential VALUE aside, I'm not very capitalistic :D, it would be a great snake to have in any collection WC or not, BECAUSE of what this would add to the eastern hoggie captive world

Yes he does, and people like this should be drawn and quartered just for GP.

What he needs is someone with a little more integrity, a little $$, and a lot more knowledge with keeping easterns to make him a reasonable offer for the snake.

Gregg, I don't mean to come off sounding like I'm raggin' on ya, you seem to think you get enough of that from here as it is , but I've owned several easterns over the years and I think switching them to rodents or just being able to keep a steady supply of amphibians on hand, which ever way you wish to go with the species, is more difficult than acclimating them.

Boy, I muffed up this one didn't I? Hope you can read it

I think you're right in that easterns will never become the next western, but they're like a pop culture thing. They have a small following that would enjoy new blood and the oppertunity to try and prove things like this out. Personally I'd LOVE to have that one in my collection

No problem Quig... You are not raggin at all...
Switching them to rodents or being able to supply them with a steady amphibian diet in captivity is part of acclimating them to captive life...

Which is why I said that something like that should fall into capable hands... That animal should be with someone who can take it to the next level... Unfortunately, it does not seem to be in those hands right now... I hate to get all doom and gloom but I do not think this snake will live very long in its current place...

I suppose you're right. I just never thought of feeding something it eats normally as acclimating. Just supplying it with proper nourishment :D.

In the case of switching them over I see your point though.

There have actually been several leucistics over the years, and that's not even including the two "white-sided" Easterns that were caught a few years ago (a few weeks apart in different states). I also heard about a gravid w/c Eastern that hatched out a few leucistics. As far as I'm aware they have all died before breeding. :(
