Its Jan 10th & 11th. We're going to shoot for going if The Lolo can get the time off work.

How big of a show is it? Is it worth an 8 hour drive?

I haven't been to a Repticon show in Atl yet. Thats why we're considering going. Tony Cuetto used to be the promoter and sold it off to Repticon.

BT, if it's like it was last year this time, it's not worth it.

They allow attendees to bring in their own animals (up to two each).

I was looking at an albino ball on one vendor's table and noticed it had a mite crawling on it. Discreetly let him know and he whips open the deli cup and douses the poor thing with Reptile Relief (sprayed directly in the face) and says "damn shows!". Keep in mind, this was 2 hours after the show opened and after he sprayed the poor thing, mites just came out of everywhere. He set it behind the table, but when we made another round, it was back on the table.

Moved on to another table, and they had huge tubs of juvenile ball pythons (I suspect WC) and on one of the balls, it had a tick on its head. I told that vendor as well and he laughed and grabbed the snake, pulled the tick off and put it back in the tub.

Another vendor had very thin ball pythons on their table.

I left feeling very "dirty" as if I had all sorts of creepy crawlies coming home with me, and I stripped out of my clothes, put them in a HOT wash and took a hot shower as soon as I got home.

I did not go to the Repticon show in the summer.

However, with all that said, I did write to Cathy (Kathy?) and expressed my concerns. She still feels it's ok to let attendees bring in their own animals to show to vendors. I disagree, but whatever.

I do plan to go next weekend to see if there have been any improvements made, and basically to have an excuse to meet up with other friends in the area that I don't get a chance to see very often.

So, bottom line - if there have been no improvements from last year, BT - it's not worth the drive. If there have been improvements, it has the potential to be a good show. Between the two, the GA Herp Society show (back in October) is a far better run show, even though it also has its share of wholesaler's/flippers who feed people lines of bull.

One who sold a guy local to me two very sick ball pythons for his children that died a week later. They contacted me to see if I knew his name (I didn't) and I ended up giving them two of my normal male hatchlings, and they bought two more for Christmas (they have four children that now each have their own ball pythons).

So yes, Bryon - I plan to attend on Saturday, although I'm not sure what time I'm going yet - I have to touch base with the others to see what time they'll be going.

we've been curious about the show vendor-wise ourselves since its the closest show to us and I refuse to do the Birmingham show.

It wasn't really big - three large circles of tables, at two of the circles, one vendor each had half the circle. So - maybe 20 vendors? If that many.

Again, this was last year. I haven't checked to see if they've updated the vendor list on their site yet.
