I put a male in with my 3 legged female "Zippy" (I did not name her) and saw some breeding behavior but no copulations. Then a couple months later about a week before x mas she started laying. I happened to be home sitting right next to the cage when she did it. This was her first clutch and she only laid about 13 eggs. Only 7 were fertile and they have some spots of poor calcification but they seem to be doing fine so far. Just thought I would share.

I see you are using the grid method where the eggs dont come in direct contact with any water. How has that been working for you as far as lizards go? Im very interested as Ive been thinking of giving that method a shot.
BTW no one believes for a second you didnt name "Zippy"
:D

LOL I swear I didnt name her. This is the first time I have used this method with lizard eggs but I will post the results.

Valid question Vnette! Most infertile eggs are smaller and have a yellowish color to them. If you put a bright light to them, there are no blood veins showing like in a healthy fertile egg.....

Its not a stupid question at all. It takes a little time to be able to tell a good egg from a bad egg.
Ok, here's an easy way to tell. Remember when the Kimberly rock monitors layed eggs and they were no good? Remember all the whining and cursing I did and how Id stare into the incubator a thousand times a day hoping for a miracle? Thats how you tell.

 Yea it helps to have a fertile one next to an infertile one at first so you can see the difference. I will get a pic next time if i get more and any infertiles.
