So as of Wednesday when I fed my hatchlings I still had two hold outs from a clutch that hatch June 2nd that had not eaten. Thursdays morning when I checked on them one had ate and the other still had not. At this point its been almost two months and I am not shy about force feeding, plus she was the only snake I really planned on holding back from this clutch.

SO, I get a little soft fur fuzzy since they are small and have pointy noses that makes it easier. So I start to try to work the pointy nose to open the snakes mouth and she just refuses to open her mouth. I've never seen that before. So I grab some tongs and poke her mouth a bit to irritate her into opening her mouth.

Come to find out she can not open her mouth. Looked as though her teeth were fused together or there was a layer of skin that needed to be split covering the outside of her teeth.

Well it this point I have to rush to work. Which was good because it gave me plenty of time to think about the dilemma. When I got home last night. I set up a small area to do surgery if need be. Well first I wanted to get pictures to show all of you. Well, she was not being co operative to say the least, but after all the working of her mouth I saw everything come apart in her mouth. It was like it was glued together. I never did get any pictures didn't need to poke at her face with an exacto knife. Now her mouth looks fine!?

Any way just wondering if anyone else has seen this before. She has a perfectly developed mouth and teeth. She was the largest baby born in the clutch. I am really wanting to keep her because one I could use a female spider and she has some nice paradox dark spots on her.

i have seen corns that didnt get washed soon enough get yolk stuck in there mouths and its like glue gets really hard and nasty but usually a good soak in warm water takes care of it i had that happen once when a clutch hatched while i was out of town but this sounds a little more serious than that

New tubs? I think there is a thread somewhere about washing new plastic tubs before using them because they have some sort of coat from the factory. Something like that happened to me when I was setting up my new rack I forgot to wash the tubs and noticed a rubbing noise coming out of them. It happened every time the snakes touched the side of the tub so I got them out and they felt sticky to touch. Luckily I only had 3 snakes in there so I gave them a bath and washed the tubs as well. That pretty much solved the problem.

No new tubs, she is in a tub used for babies in previous years.

I do have to update. I gave her some time and then tried to feed again. She didn't eat over night so once again I was going to try to force feed her. Only one side of her mouth can open. The other side there is a layer of skin, the skin that usually covers there teeth when there mouth is closed, it is fused together. I will try to get pictures this week end, when I can get someone to help me.
