I have a male suriname that is about 5 years old and he hasen't eaten in about 2.5 months. I moved from Northern Ca to Southern Ca right at about the time that he stopped eating. I fed him just before I move and then when I tried after I moved, he refused. He is still active when I get him out. His personality hasn't changed. He has lost some weight. I feed him FT. He's not a breeder, just a pet. Any suggestions on getting him to eat?

give him some time in my experience with boas is they take some time to ajust to change, i would have boas go off feed for weeks if i set them up differently . just give him his normal care and try not to handle him to much and he will eat when it wants to. if it starts loosing wieght rapidly then thats a different story but try that and see where that takes you

How much weight has he lost? A healthy boa won't loose that much weight over 2.5 months. How soon before the move did you feed him?

I have heard change can throw them off, but I would watch that weight loss carefully.

Thanks for the replys. I feed him 3 days before I moved. He has probably lost about a 5th of his normal weight, down about 1 pound. He still looks healthy just a little thinner than normal.

you have to give a snake more time than that to digest its food,

I feed him a few days before I move. Once I moved, I waited about 3 weeks before I offered him food.
