I don't remember all the names but I found that that particular pattern/color ASF breeds the best overall....we have gone through alot of the others, different albinos, darker ones, etc....

Has everyone else found the same thing? Seems to be the standard one you see these days....

Look at the ones in my pictures...That pattern DOES NOT breed at least not for me...I have had them for over a year now and they have only produced one litter right of the bat...Course for me I don't need more babies anyhow...So it's no biggie really....As I use them just for scenting normal rats..

I am no expert but it maybe the wheel. All i have in mine is bedding, hide, and toilet paper rolls.

I only have two ASFs now, i cant stand breeding rodents. Its nice for the small stuff, but just not worthwhile to me. Id rather just buy my snake food.

Thats Pickle though. Hes a cute boy, not sure that hes going to become snake food, or if ill let him live out his natural life with me. hes a sweet boy.

Just be glad one didnt get out.... eat the rodent bait... then crawl up on the couch under the pillows and die.

Trust me.... I had to thow out the pillows and was Febreezing the damn couch for MONTHS

This little guy actually has two different colors :) It looks like fawn on his head and agouti on his rear I'm looking forward to seeing what he looks like after he molts and whether or not he holds those colors.

Me too, and most of mine are dumbos now. Kara once told me that there's a warm place in hell for those who feed off dumbos (as she's feeding them off). It's VERY hard to feed them off.

My vet actually called me today to ask me if I had any available baby females for a friend of his to have as a pet. I've placed a few as pets, and that makes me feel a little better that some get pet homes! LOL

I have yet to find out how to get males up to 600 grams. Mine is about 6 months old and is 350 grams. But he always has 10 girls to chase around. He is the only "stud" we have right now. He has 63 kids on the ground right now with more coming.

Had a rat chew through one of the black mortar tubs the other day, all of them were still in there, though. I wouldn't of even noticed if one of them hadn't of been peeking out at me.

With my rat breeding I have always noticed the albino strain produced more babies for me. My breeding groups were 1.3 and this is what I normally ended up with on in my bins. I had to clean every 3 days with the number of rats in the bins. This picture was taken on the day all the babies were taken from the mothers and put into holding tanks. http://www.frontiernet.net/~rmontez/rats.jpg

Oh wow Diana looks like you've got some really beautiful blues over there :D I like keeping rats most of the time :) I don't have to keep so many yet that I can't still enjoy them.

Nice snake food everybody... luckily I don't breed dumbos otherwise I don't know if I'd be able to feed them off. I love blues though, just got a blue female so I could produce more blue babies. If I had a whole colony of blue rexes I'd be happy, hahaha!
