LOL , Thanks. I put wheels on every rack I build. Melamine is hella heavy and I'm not getting any younger so any new racks will be built to stack.

Very nice... I just built a few new racks out of 3/4 in plywood sealed with water based poly. They should hold up nicely, the only problem is I built them for the 15 & 28 qt sterilite tubs that were just discontinued.

Yeah , that totally blows. Most of my racking is based around 15 & 32qts.

This is why I always buy all my tubs first.

Looks great did you stain the first rack?
I'm building one at the moment used blank hollow doors with the 35qt tubs.

The 41 qt rack was stained and sealed using water based stain & water based poly. I like building my own racks cuz I get to decide how I want them , how many slots , what kind of heat etc without having to just go along with what it is out there. Its generally cheaper to.

I won't build another solid sided rack larger than a 32 qt anymore. I've had to rework the heat on this one twice and slap some holes in the front. Before the I added the holes it was holding 85 degrees in the slot 6" in from the front. Once I get another blade I can add the rest. Eventually I'll tear it down and rebuild it. AND it weighs 300 pounds or so.

Here is a breeding pair in one of the tubs.

Very nice work Bryon! Giving me a lot of ideas for the next racks I build. I like the semi open sides on the juvenile rack there....help eliminate some of the weight with them I'm sure.

Thanks.

From now on anything bigger than a 32qt sideways rack will be built like the 41qt rack in my first post. The solid sides just hold too much heat for me or the snakes to be comfortable.

Nothing beats having wheel on your racks man, great stuff....

Thats why you see wires & cords hanging and crap on the shelves. I've been moving stuff around trying to make room for more racks and the wheels make it sooooo much easier. The missus tells me she needs another Leo rack and I need a 15 / 32 rack for the boids and a backheated 6qt rack for colubrids. The building never stops.
