Alicia Holmes 01-06-2009, 06:00 PM So in lieu of the ruckus that i COULD create, ive decided to start an artwork thread, because, its alot easier to show stuff ive created in a positive environment!
I love to draw, and sculpt, im not very good at it, and.... to be honest, i cant do it on command, and im pretty dang lazy about it too.... But its fun, and i enjoy it when i do end up working on something for a period of time.
Heres a few of my "artsy" things. Enjoy them, and post your own!!!!! i LOVE other peoples artwork!

I likes dragons I does :D. That's some pretty incredible "not very good at it" stuff there.
What's the dude with the rams horns and the dog feets? Looks familiar.
Alicia it is very impressive work. I love the drawings especially the one with the two dragons.
FloridaHogs 01-06-2009, 06:15 PM I have a dragon mural I did in collage. I will have to pull it out of storage and take some pics. Very nice work Alicia!
Wild Bill 01-06-2009, 06:18 PM Nice work Alicia!!! Now get off your lazy butt and make some more.

JChandler 01-06-2009, 09:34 PM Where is the rest for those of us who are less artistic?
I know you have to be hiding rooms full of those dragons somewhere....lazy yeah right....:yourock:
Those are really cool. I wish I could sculpt.
I do the handcrafts with yarn and threads. Here's a few poor pics of the leopard geckos I designed. I'm currently working on cresties and western hoggies...

FloridaHogs 01-06-2009, 10:21 PM You really do great work Kare. How on earth do you figure out how to do the patterns?
Thanks guys - Tama where is that quilt you're working on?
You really do great work Kare. How on earth do you figure out how to do the patterns?
The brown dog and squirrel are published patterns. After doing that, you get a feel for how to "fit" it together. It's just a matter of getting the right yarn and inspiration to make something. LOL, maybe I should knit some BELs - might be the only way I get one, at least for a few years.....
Well...here are a few quilts I have made.
Quilts for the kids.

http://i92.photobucket.com/albums/l37/ChandlerReptiles/tamas%20pics/TamaQuilt1.jpg
And the one still in progress. Should be Queen size when done. I'll have to find someone else to machine quilt it with a large machine, I could never complete it on mine.
http://i92.photobucket.com/albums/l37/ChandlerReptiles/tamas%20pics/snakequilt1.jpg
FloridaHogs 01-06-2009, 10:26 PM I am so not crafty like that.
Very cool, Tama. I like the snake one, but the fish quilt is by far my favorite. I adore the coloring.

Thanks Kare...the kids actually helped by picking the quilt pattern and then the fabrics. They even helped cut some the pieces out.
Love it when kids get interested in more crafts and hobbies. Anything besides the video games....
FloridaHogs 01-06-2009, 10:30 PM Have you ever done a memory quilt with old t-shirts and such. I have seen one done for a child when they were leaving home. Mom took all the old ball jerseys, and different pieces that had special meaning, and made a quilt out of them. It was pretty cool.

Bet she could do it, if Jeff would give up some of his t's before wearing them out! LOL!

Yes, got a new fancy sewing/embroidery machine this Christmas from my mom. Showed Lizzy (the eldest) how it worked. She was threading the machine and playing with the embroidery option for 2 1/2 hours. Really helped me out with one of the three quilts I have in the plans.

No I haven't yet. I am using all the old scraps to cut the pieces for a double wedding ring quilt that I plan to machine piece and then hand quilt. Both of my great grandmas made one each. I want to continue the tradition if I am able to. That quilt has over 2000 pieces and will take me many years to complete.
147BOAS 01-06-2009, 10:36 PM very nice every one
FloridaHogs 01-06-2009, 10:37 PM My mom "likes" to quilt, but I have yet to see her finish one :)
very nice every one
Thanks Andrew.
My mom "likes" to quilt, but I have yet to see her finish one :)
LOL! That is always a risk. I usually have 3-4 projects going and can take forever to finish one!
My mom "likes" to quilt, but I have yet to see her finish one :)
She may run into the same problem...actually finding someone to quilt them. Piecing together the top is one thing it's the final quilting of it that is the challange and it's rather costly to pay someone to it.
LOL! That is always a risk. I usually have 3-4 projects going and can take forever to finish one!
Yep me too, that's why I have three quilts in the works as we type.
FloridaHogs 01-06-2009, 10:46 PM Nope, she has a big quilting rack and was doing it ALL by hand. She just goes in spells of working on it.
Mrs. Sputnik 01-06-2009, 10:46 PM Those are really cool. I wish I could sculpt.

Varanette 01-07-2009, 12:11 AM WOW Alica! That's some really AMAZING artwork. I love the gargoyle sculpture...and the two dragons sketch. I used to draw in high school and even paint....but it's been so so so very long. that now the best that I can do is a stick figure.....no maybe a flower :D
Nice figure Kare......I love the lizards! That's a true gift.
Rapture 01-07-2009, 01:49 AM Loved seeing everyone's art. Art is really great in the aspect that there are so many different forms and different styles within each form. Art is endless...
Personally, I draw mostly, usually just pencil and paper. Here's some stuff I've done in no particular order, of which a few are unfinished.

My mother made each of us a quilt. She pieced them on the machine but hand quilted them all. Eddie got the double wedding ring one complete with shams. All of the artwork is great. Thanks for sharing.

Laooda 01-07-2009, 11:18 AM Thank you Kare!
Laura Fopiano 01-07-2009, 11:40 AM Great thread Alcia! I love your dragons!
I'm so glad that there are other women here who quilt! I have made a few and I am curently working on a quilts for my twins Amber and Amanda. I cheat a little and do them all on my machine LOL I also am doing some a little different. I bought 2 different 80x64 Christmas table cloths, bought a twin flat sheet, batting, and viola.... a Christmas quilt! Yes I took a couple of pix but I do not know how to resize them, I will get Bry to do it and I will post the pix.
I have made a memory guilt, as some of you know, I have been clean and sober for 20 years now. I made the quilt out of narcotics anonymous t-shirts, denim, and flannel. What most people don't realize about quilting is that it requires a bit a math skills LOL
I also like to paint, I can't draw to save my life but I do make hair clips and jewlery using blank brass findings, some swaravski (sp?) flat backs and a really cool product called "permenamel" Yes pix are coming.
Tama, machine quilting is really easy once you get the hang of it. I took a class on it and then started experimenting with different combinations of mediums. I peice by machine, add ribon embroydry, and then machine quilt the peice together. I usually finish the binding by hand as it makes for a much better finished product.
I'm so excited right now!!! SQUEEEEE I have other reptile keeping quilters to talk to YAY!!!
On a side note, I have refinished old steamer trunk too. I'll have to see if I can dig up any of the old pix that I have.
Laura Fopiano 01-07-2009, 01:19 PM Okay here's the quilt that I'm working on.

Thanx Brice, they are actually bare brass findings that I bought on ebay. I then got out a flower catalog for my color and painted them with a product called Permenamel. What I like about it is it is a product that is oven safe up to 350 degrees, dishwasher and micrwave safe, so it can be used on plates and practically anytihng the artist wants that can be used in the kithen.
AaronP 01-08-2009, 12:59 PM I'm seeing some very impressive art in here! I do mainly photoshop work, 90% of this was made over 2 years ago.

Laura...We can chat anytime you wish about quilting. I'm off to work on some soon today. Would be very interested on how to finish quilting a queen sized one on my machine.
bassett524 01-09-2009, 05:34 PM saw this thread a few days ago and as anyone who knows me from other forums can tell you, I post a bit late when it comes to pics. I drew most of these in class when I as bored. I don't really think they're that great as I've never taken drawing classes or anything, just started sketching things bored in biology lectures and realized I could make decent stuff. My scanner sucks so I swear my shadowing is a lot better if you saw these in person.

Laura Fopiano 01-09-2009, 06:21 PM The half naked women are beautiful! No need to apologise!
Laooda 01-09-2009, 08:32 PM Great stuff! I agree with Laura! I LOVE Hurley... I totally crush on him during Lost! And Sawyer! I really like your take on the Escher too!
