I tried using the young male method this year with my kenyans and it didn't work out for me. He's a shoestring next to her. I got great copulations but she didn't get gravid. I'm chalking it up to him being to young. There's always next year. I have two girls ready for next year.

It happens. This past season we bred a lot of first timers and a couple were young males. They bred like champs but didn't quite get across the finish line.

Good luck this coming season.

He's 60 grams! Which is smaller than I would have liked but I guess it was worth a shot. I only put him with the one girl.

The other thing about him is that he has never refused food. He has eaten every single week since I brought him home. But he hasn't grown that much.

and most kenyans do, at least you know he'll be ready next time 'round.
BTW- i used to cool (nights only ) my kenyans in early spring for 6 - 8 weeks then put them together to mate.
worked great, produced lotsa worms using that method.
good luck, ck

Thanks for the tip on the cooling constrictorkeeper. If he keeps pounding food he should be good to go. Meanwhile my girls are just getting bigger so it should all work out. I am looking to make anerys and 100% het anerys. I'll post my progress.
