How many pastels do you own? How much is too much? You hear people talking about "you can never have enough pastels". Just wondering how many people are stocking up on.

I only have 2 nice ones and 2 ugly girls (freebies) -- since I don't think I'll ever be in the position where I'll be breeding alot I think a couple of pastels is enough -- in the coming years I'll likely have many more pastel het (somethings) or pastel combo holdbacks that I don't need to waste valuable rack space on straight pastels. Now if your planning on producing a lot of snakes and working a lot of pastel combos then obviously you'd need more.

I've got 9 myself. 2 males and 7 females. Most are still pretty young but I've got my original male breeding one of his daughters this year finally. Two more of the females should be ready to go next year and the other 4 should be ready the following year. By then I hope I'm able to breed them with a Super and start adding a lot of super pastel females to the colony.

Just 2 right now - my founding male and his daughter. Well, his son is still here, just waiting for better weather to ship him out. Would have held back all the females, but I only produced 1.1 out of 10 eggs last year - so sad! LOL

Hoping this year is better!

I'm hoping your year is better too! I need a couple of nice really light females if you produce enough to spare a couple.

I have 1.1 pastels with a potential clutch being worked on and a another 0.1 coming this baby season. I'll freely admit that as a side project I'll be working on constantly upgrading the pastels as far as quality but as past of the main project I'll have het Pastels floating around.

1.2 pastels.. But I want to add atleast 5 or 6 more pastel females this year.. I would like to replace all normal females with pastels but that'll take awhile.. I hope to produce a couple pastel clutches this season and I'll keep all the females.. Hell I'm going to keep every female I produce for 2 or 3 years at least.. Then I can start working on combos!!

I have 1.6 adult pastels and another female that I held back from this past year. I also held back 1.2 Super pastels as well. I am a huge fan of Pastels and Super Pastels and that is my main focus when it comes to BPs. I hope to selectively breed some of the nicest Pastels and Supers and also mix in the Fire and Yellowbelly traits to make them even brighter. There are a lot of other morphs I like, but with limited space and a strong interest in other pythons species besides BPs, working with a couple complementary morphs and trying to refine them is what really interest me.:yessir:

Hopefully some Pastel Yellowbellies in the making! I decided to put this girl with my YB because I didn't feel she was bright enough to be part of the firefly project.

Now if this Fire balled up in the back would wake up and breed with this beautiful Pastel I might have a chance for some Fireflies. He has locked with her once but then went into a shed cycle and nothing since. My critters don't get going till Feb-March but I am anxious for this guy to get going.

In the end I look forward to one day producing a Super Pastel-Fire-Yellowbelly combo. If I had more space I would keep a few more Pastel females, but for what I want to do I think I am good for now.

Thanks Bryon - got several people wanting female pastels this season! I'll keep trying to selectively breed him each season - I'll be happy if all his babies turn out as nicely as those two did (I think the female is even nicer than him).

I'll definitely let you know if I have any available.

None here so far . Am waiting for the right combo . I dont mind paying for someone elses work and time if they are selective breeding . Seems to be a lot of crappy pastels out there . I want a firefly .
We are getting our 1st pastel het ghost fem from John Manser . I tracked him down as the breeder who had that orange ghost wc line pictured on Living Art . He happened to have a new clutch from the original female orange ghost . He was going to keep the male ghost but agreed to let us have him along with the pastel het ghost sister .
Rabernet (sp? ) has a nice pastel .

I'll likely be looking for the light normal girls. Even tho pastels are fairly cheap right now, there is a possibility they will be out of budget range.

And yes, i was referring to Pastel Hets.

Robin,
I saw your boy on another forum. Are you going to make any fireflies with him?
I wanted to ask where he came from as he is impressive in color and pattern .

Well, I'll be happy to hook you up with some normal females from those breedings if you're interested. These are the two girls he's breeding this season (might breed him to one more - but these are the two so far).

I'm raising up 13 females from the 500 to 1000 gram range and 2 female bumblebee females around 1000 grams. I'm hoping that my pastel yellowbelly and pastel ghost start breeding for me as I plan on holding onto any females that I produce. So to answer your question , no, I don't think you could ever have too many.

I have a lot of Pastels and Pastel crosses. I am going to be replacing most of my Normals with Pastels as they get up to size. As far as Females go I have seven regular Pastels, two Supers, two Pastel Yellow Bellys, two Pewters, and two Pastel Mojaves. For Males I have one regular Pastel, one Super Pastel, one Pewter, one Sterling, one Silver Bullet, and one Super Pastel Yellow Belly. I produced all of them with the exception of my original pair of Graziani line and a lone Female I obtained from BHB. I have been taking pictures of the ones I kept as hold back this year and plan to post them all pretty soon. I have been producing some incredible Pastels the last couple of years and I think everyone is going to enjoy seeing these. :yessir:

I have 3.1 right now, would love to add a bunch of females at some point in the future and replace all my normals with them eventually. They are the first morph I purchased in BP's and I still think they are awesome.
