On this weeks addition of Reptile Radio our own ever lovin' BT mentioned that its important to keep woma eggs dry. They cant touch water.

I was curious as to what techniques woma breeders use. Do you guys use those white grids on top of the vermiculite/perlite? Or something else?

Im curious because Im going to be trying something similar with my next clutch of Kimberly rock monitor eggs as I believe they are also sensitive to moisture.

I know a lot of breeders prefer the crate method of floating them about the vermiculite, I have not tried it, and am not sure how it would work for smaller colubrid eggs. Does anybody use it for their colubrid eggs.

I hatched mine the same way I hatch all my eggs.... directly in the perlite. I did make it drier than usual though. I usually use a 1part perlite to .8 part water. With the woma eggs I used a 1 part water, .5 part water mixture and it worked well. I had 9 eggs; 1 was a dud, 1 was questionable and went bad within 2 days. The other was fully formed dead in the egg at day 59. 6 hatched into perfect little carrot heads!

I've seen most people use the white grate like your talking about...What I did last year was mix up some super dry vermiculite and used about 2 inches in a shoebox and poored about 3 inches of dry vermiculite right on top without mixing them together...I'll use the white grate this year...

I used the egg crate with ball python eggs and had great success. I was going to try maternal incubation if I get lucky this year.

Never bred womas. But alot of Gecko species have eggs that cant touch water or get to damp.I would just put them in a bottle cap etc. in sand half way burried then put that on top of the damp perelite.
