So we went to NERD yesterday so that my girl could pick out her new black blood and while we were there Kara gave us the whole tour and showed us some REALLY cool stuff. I so wish I had had my camera with me and I know Jenea is gonna kill me for this (I feel the pic police coming on :lol:) but I'll try to give the best descriptions I can.

We got to see and hold Kevins pride and joy Jewel, his baby albino water monitor that he just hatched out a few weeks ago. She was so damn cute and her skin was almost translucent and looked purplish. I guess Kevins tokays got hit pretty hard by the power outages a few weeks ago and unfortunately he lost a lot of them.

On to the ball python room! My favorite :wamma: They just hatched out an amazing little clutch of killerbee axanthics! Out of five eggs there were three killerbees (1.2 I believe how can you beat that!) one killerbee and an axanthic. We also got to check out the 5 (yes FIVE) gene combo Pastel, Enchi, Woma, Pinstripe, Spider! That was pretty damn cool but more or less just another example of Kevin showing off :lol:. We got to check out a few of the coral glows, some champs, such a cool morph just on it's own though apparently not a great combo morph, a pied (one of my favorite morphs, I can't wait til I can have one of my own :D), Super pastel inferno (damn hot little snake) and a bunch of others.

We also got to see a few boas they were bringing in, a T+ Argentine, some albinos and a bunch of others (not so much my thing but my buddy Trevor was in heaven!).

I also got to hold half (the non business end lol) of a 9' female king cobra which was pretty cool. She's a venomoid but damn I still wouldn't be free-handling her the way that Kara and Kevin do!

It was a great trip and I'll be sure to bring my camera next time so Jenea doesn't kill me!

It was really cool man. I'm not a monitor guy myself but it was still such a cool little animal. I never realized just how SMALL they are when they're first born! Didn't see any of the adults this time but I've seen them in the past and they are all really cool.

Those are pretty BIG babies as far as monitors go! Ackie babies weigh 3 grams. Ill bet a water baby could eat an ackie baby in one gulp.

Adam, sounds like you had an awesome time! I have been very fortunate to have been invited there a few times, and have spent a week each time with Kevin and Kara, picking their brains, getting dirty (the rat room takes ALL day to clean), cleaning and feeding all the hatchling ball pythons and feeding all the adults (who don't play on feeding day - I can assure you! LOL). They have some BIG adults who don't care that you are trying to maintain your balance on a step ladder, hold a rat and open the tub at the same time! LOL

So glad you had such a great time - you're making me wish I were up there right now!

DId you get to play with the Rhino Iggies!? Oh my goodness i love those guys! ( and just the other monitors in general...) like feeding them eggs from the chickens?, its so funny when they eat them and they plop into the backs of their throats!!! LOL

They have so much neat stuff there... i played with a bunch of balls, but my ABSOLUTE favorites, were the rhino iggies, and the Kookaburras! they make the most fun sounds ever!

I've learned two things today. One, digging into threads around here is at one's own risk. Two, I see that the Pic-Police (aka The Punisher) really went easy on me when I didn't post any photos in my thread. Now I see what will happen if I ever do that again..

Lol you guys kill me :) I didn't have internet access for a couple days and I get back and the pic police are out in FORCE! I think we're going back either this weekend or next to get some pictures of my girls new black blood so I'll see what I can do about keeping the BL happy and calling of the SWAT :D
