This is my first time trying to breed boas and I was a little let down until tonight.

A little back story I got this guy from a friend who didnt have much luck with him at all. He said he had him in with 3 different girls in the past 2 years and never once did he show any signs of interest. Shortly after I got him I received a phone call saying one of the females this boy was with had a small Hypo Jungle premie & Slug litter. None of the babies survived unfortunately.

When I got him I let him settle in and started pumping him full of food (1 med rat every 2 weeks).

About Oct 1st I started introducing him in with my normal girl. She was showing all signs of being ready; tail up, urates all over the cage. But the male never showed any interest in her. Its been pretty warm so I thought maybe that was it.

After hearing that my buddy Mitch @ Better Boa was seeing courting and locks it got my hopes down on a successful season for me.

It finally got cold her (-20C) and I put the male back in with this girl on thursday. Tonight I come home to see the Hypo Jungle riding the normal girl and spurring the heck out of her! I know there is still a long way to go but this is much better than how it started!

Well I think its safe to say she never took.

So it was a dud year for me this year with a warm winter having to move right in the middle of breeding season.

I will try her again 2012/2013 just not sure if I will repeat the hypo Jungle or if I should use my VPI T+ male.
