I like the Van Ness crock dish that Bean Farm sells, I found them really cheap at a local pet store and my snakes don't tip the large size over. For my smaller snakes I use a bowl I found at Walmart for $0.97 each that has access to underneath so it combines a water bowl and hide in one. As soon as they get about 500 gms though they tend to not fit underneath anymore, well at least not without lifting the bowl off one side.

Besides for the few kitty litter pans and the bigger dog bowls most of mine are set up with a 4" pvc cuppling with a 16 oz deli cup. Works the best for me. I will say that during the winter with the dry air I will put regular bowls in with most of the balls.

I use Van Ness for the smaller sizes, but the bigger snakes seem to tip them over too much. I like to use the tip proof "cheap" dog and cat food bowls. Less floods that way.

I use 4in. PVC cut into 2" sections w/ 8oz. deli cups for 15qt. tubs and 4" sections w/ 16oz deli cups for 32qt+.

For 6qt tubs I use small crocks.

I use the same bowls for my coolside hides. And if the bigger critters lift & carrry it a little in a rack situation - what of it? they can't tip it enough to spill anything.

I like the heavy ceramic water bowls. I use 5" bowls for the balls and a 7" bowl for the adult boa.

Im not sure of the name of these, but I use the small plastic crocks. I get them from the local Walmart. I use the small yellow, blue and purple ones for babies. Then I use the 8 in plastic crocks for dogs. For all the adults.

I use the $1 dog water bowls from Walmart for anything in 32qts and larger. I want to move to to the 3" ceramic crocks for the 6 & 15 qts.

I used to use the plastic ones, but I had tooooooo many issues with the snakes tipping the bowls over. I finally had enough and switched to the heavy weight ceramic bowls.

i use plastic dog bowls with deli cup inserts that way they are easy to clean just pull the old deli cup and put a new one in

Bruce,
Just like you I use some empty ones for hides and then have another water bowl in their tub. When I filled them with water and the snake couldn't fit under it, the edges are a little sharp on the bottom of the bowl and the weight of the water concerned me because the snake would have the edges on top of them and just wanted to avoid any accidents.

The mentioned PVC hides is a fantastic idea! I'm definitely going to try that out. As for water I use tupperware containers but I'm open to other options cause recently my girls have decided that it's okay to tip them over which leads to DAILY cage cleanings.

I hot glued Tupperware containers to the tubs and use another one of the same kind in it with the water. So I can take it out and clean them and the one glued wont let it tip.

For most of my snakes I use the 5" crocks with 12 oz. deli cups. The hatchling tubs need smaller 8 oz deli cups and I found some glass bowls from the $1 store that work perfectly for them. I tried the PVC holders but they were too light weight and the bigger snakes would drag them around and they'd end up with a bunch of aspen built up around the sides and in the cups - so I stuck with crocks. :D

I use all sizes of the Van Ness dishes. They seem to work great . I've never had a problem with them getting knocked over.

Are those the ones they sell on reptiletubs.com?

I've been tearing my hair out trying to decide whether or not to order a bunch so all my water bowls will be uniform...

I get mine at the Dollar Tree as well, but they are ceramic dog bowls, with dog designs on the side, but they are 5" in diameter (I think) and they work great, no tips, only problem is they don't have them in stock all the time, when they do, I try to grab a few.
