what was some of your first reptiles and what was the first reptile you paid for? My first reptiles were field caught rosy boas, california alligator lizards, horned toads, gopher snakes, and my first petstore buy was an adult florida king that was a very cool snake.
First snake was a Ball Python that we still have.
Jeff and I made this purchase when dating...I think it was a test to see my reaction to having reptiles in the house.

Stupid import...that girl only eats gerbils like 3-4 times a year. I think she is finally up to around 1800 grams.
I kept tons as a kid, nothing I ever bought just stuff I would find and keep until I got yelled at for hiding it in the house, my parents were and still are for the most part deathly afraid of snakes, hell I got a brother that will pee himself just from the site of one. Teenage years was really about other things so reptiles got pushed to the back burner and then my ex hated reptiles sooooooo that is why she is my ex...:D
Really that one bp snowballed into what I have today so I am happy with that even if she isn't a reliable eater...

was a northern water snake that i caught way out on a half submerged fallen tree ( i was 11 y.o.). caught it, then immediately fell in the water. during the ensuing melee, critter tags me, but i don't let go. go back to our campsite with my just poached prize and a small, but bleeding hand wound. parents call a park ranger freaking out thinking i've been envenomated. ranger breaks out his trusty field manual, while the whole time i'm telling him it's a natrix (now nerodia, i think) sipedon, the northern water snake. dude finds it in the book and my mom finally takes a breath. i was real surprised that my rents let me keep it. killed it a few weeks later (cooked in it's tank out in the yard).

The first reptile I ever bought was a pacific gopher snake, illegal, but I think I was 7. The first animal I bought from a breeder was a boa years later.

My first were wild caught snakes. I can't tell you what kind. I used to catch them in the creek behind my house that I grew up in. I would keep them overnight, then let them go. I also had a turtle that I caught that I kept for a few weeks.
The first one I bought was a normal male ball python. I bought him about eight years ago, and still have him. His name is Little Dude. lol

My first reptile was a ball python from a mom and pop pet store.. My second was a boa. I had to get rid of both before I left for basic training. I got out about a year ago and have been going hardcore since.. I love this hobby..
