I am getting ready to build some racks for my balls and was going to run heat tape up the back of the rack. Do any of you guys use back heat? Does it work good for breeding balls?

I think Markus Jayne Ball Pythons uses back heat and he seems to produce alot of balls.

Back heat here as well.

As long as you are providing a large enough area for the snake to get its entire body in the "hot spot" then it dont matter if it is coming from the back, the bottom or the top. 90 degrees is 90 degrees no matter how you slice it.

I have always used belly heat but I really dont think it matters too much....

I use belly heat for my adult rack I have now, and back heat for my hatchling racks, but I haven't decided yet what I want to do for my new adult racks I'm building...back heat is certainly less of a hassle, and cheaper...

For me it depends on the length of the tub. Longer tubs are either easier or harder to get the temp range you want based on the style of either belly or back heat. I myself wouldn't use backheat on anything longer than a 32 qt. Anything longer than that will go to belly heat.

What is the room temp going to be. If it gets cooler you may want to go with belly heat. I think thats why some use belly in oder to keep the coool side wamer.

It gets pretty cold in my room so i use botttom heat.11in for 41qt. and 4 for 16qt and32qt.
