So my wife got an interesting letter for me in the mail, it was from a lawyers office and apparently there is someone in virgina whos legally given name, I kid you not, is J.R. Now as many of you know I go by J.R. Althoughto be honest none of my initials are J or R. Well apparently this guys given name is J.R. Mason and he is in the fish breeding industry, mostly bettas and some south american ciclids. Anyways he is onbviously very offended by me selling reptiles under this name when its not mine so I got a cease and desist order.

As far as the legalities of this, honestly Im not sure but to be honest, my wife hates that I go by J.R. As she thinks it sounds redneck as all of the people she personally knows with initial names but me are. Also she just thinks adults shouldn't go by initials. That being said, many of my friends and almost all of my co-workers call me by my middle name, Dexter. So from here on all buisness being conducted by me or mason reptiles will be done under the name of Dexter Mason, all of you can feel free to call me dexter, dex, whatever.

Anyways, thought you all might get a kick out of this and I wanted to make sure there was no confusion in the community as to who you were dealing with. Hope this doesn't cause too much confusion.

I'm not sure i follow. Is your business called J.R. Mason or is it the fact that you represent your name as J.R. Mason?

No, my business is Mason Reptiles, which is why I was even more confused. I think it just has to do with the fact that I'm breeding and selling animals under the name J.R. Mason? Hell if I know.

What a tool. People these days are way too quick to jump into legalities over the most ridiculous reasons. Hope his lawyer charged him an arm and a leg to send that letter.

Wow.....sounds like someone needs to get a life! You should go file for that as a fictious name.....that would get his goat!

Yeah, I've thought about fighting but really it's just not worth my time especially since I had been considering going by Dexter anyway.
