Hey all,

I am needing some new racks for hopefully all the little wigglers i am hoping on having this season. I really like the look of the ARS and vision style racks, but the ARS are just a bit out of my price range for now.

What are your guys and gals opinions of the vision racks? I see that there are a few bigger breeders that use them like VPI, and Graziani.

I am thinking of just getting one of the 15 level hatchling racks to try out, that way if i do not like them, i have not wasted that much cash on them.

Let me know what you guys think.

Thanks
Tim

We have a vision cb70 . keep in mind the shipping cost is not rflected in total at check out .You have to call for total .
I dont have anything to compare it to here personally .
I wish it wasnt so tall .
I like the height of the hatchling racks .

Scott's tubs are smaller 3" shorter 2" narrower than ARS tubs. ARS tubs are built extremely well, and Scott's tubs are built far better than any Iris/sterilite tub. That said, the Vision hatchling tub racks work great and are perfectly fine at about 1/3 the price of the ARS 1075 unit, making them a great choice.

Thanks guys.

I do know that shipping is not included in the price at checkout, but i sent him an email asking for a total price of the rack, tubs, and shipping. So i will just wait untill he gets back to me, and see what the total price is.

I think this rack is probably the way to go especially being on a budget.

Does anyone else have any positive or negative feedback on these racks?

Thanks.

We love our Visions -- we got the hatchling rack for our babies this past season and it works great -- plus once our holdbacks starting growing out of their hatchling tubs it was really cheap and easy to convert to a juvie rack and once they outgrow that it can be used for adults as well. The heat cable is much cheaper to run than heat tape and customizable in case you want to have less on the top or have different size tubs in the same rack.

The only issue I have ever had was that, they are of course open racks, so you do have to watch your humidity (if you live in a dryer climate like I do) - other than that I think they are great racks.

If you're looking to save some money - depending on your expected production you can order a half rack or tabletop rack as well.

Thanks Tosha.

I do live where it is drier, but i do run a humidifier to keep the snake room a bit more humid, so that should not be an issue.

You say you can convert the hatchling rack into a juvi and an adult rack? What tubs do you use that can fit in the hatchling rack?

Well my expected production is looking fairly good ;) I only have 5 female balls that i am breeding this year, but i also have 2 gravid BCI's. And from the size of those females i am expecting a ton of babies. So i better be prepared.

Thanks again :yourock:

Below is a picture of my hatchling rack that was converted to make room for some of the grow outs -- the bottom two tubs are V-70s (visions version of the cb-70) then you have the juvie tubs they are V-35s (I'm not sure which standard market tub would fit this slot) and then on top you have the hatchling tubs.

When converting to the juvie sized tubs you will need to get a new set of spacers as the V-35s and V-70s are taller tubs than the hatchling tubs.

Anyone know what is Vision doing regarding the 15/32 qt racks? What if someone ordered one of those racks from their site? These tubs that fit them are discontinued. Is Vision making their own tub to fit the racks since you can no longer by Sterilite tubs?

From Scott regarding the discontinued tubs:

Sterilite now makes a #1753 and #1755 and they are the exact smae size as the #1754 and #1756 tubs.

The only draw back is that the new tubs have a very small notch in the lip where the latch swings over.

These new tubs will be available at all Target stores.

Well, i just ordered a 15 high hatchling rack today, with some spacers for a few levels of the v-35 tubs.

I will let you guys and gals know what i think of it once i get it and it is set up.

At first I wanted to setup all Visions but then got the idea to just make my own racks out of PVC at the same height. Cant wait. All I need to do is solve my heating issue.

Post the pics of the completed rack. I would love to see how it comes out.

Will post pics for sure once it is all ready. I just cannot wait to get rid of all these awful looking melamine racks that i made up.

I really like the look of the open racks like the visions and the ARS. Plus trying to make a rack out of melamine to hold 60 tubs, i don't think so...lol.

I think the visions will work well for me.

Hey Tim, I've got the 10slot 32qt that also works as a 20 slot 15qt and it's wobbly as all get out.. I probably won't get another one.. Just my 2cc's

I own 2 visions racks (32 quarts tubs) and personally I would not purchase one for adult ball pythons too wobbly for me, I like something a little heavier and sturdy for my adults.

However I might consider it for my hatchlings.

I have two cb-70 racks and two 15 quart. My racks are not wobbly at all. Very sturdy.

However, I hate them right now. They do not hold humidity at all. I will never buy them again for this reason. I will stick to RBI or AP racks. Better yet, I will build my own out of XPVC.

Thanks for all the feedback guys and gals.

This is definitely a trial run for me with these racks, and i will see how it goes. I will let you all know.

I don't use any other Vision racks, but the Vision hatchling racks are ok. If you get a running wall of these going, the racks can be zip tied together.

Well i received my vision rack yesterday, and got it all set up, except for running the heat cable, and putting on the back stops.

The only problem i have with it is with the backstops. I tried a couple of them, but they seem to thin to stay in the slot where you are suppose to slide them into. It is not a huge deal, i will just silicon them in there. That way if i need, i should still be able to get them out.

Other than that it seems like a very sturdy rack. You just need to adjust the bolts on the top to make sure all the wheels are touching the ground evenly, or you will get a bit of a wobble out of it.

Once i get the heat cable in it, and a thermostat on it, i will post a couple pics, and let you guys know what i really think of it.
