Lance you can get Aspen bales at Animal Specialties in Hubbard. Here is the link. Its not to far away. Cypress does not grow out here so you would have to order it and pay shipping which will be prohibitively expensive.

i'm not really sure about colorado but i'd start checking the local lowes and home depots for cypress. spring is rolling around and it should start being put out within a few weeks if not already being put out. i'm in ohio and our lowes, home depot, and meijers stores are already beginning to get it in so check with yours or local hardware stores. you should be able to find some in either one of them places outdoor gardening areas.

We are in Oregon not Colorado. I have checked with every Lowes and Home Depot within 20 miles. I have not checked in Spring or summer so I will try that.
LP Reptiles 02-09-2009, 01:41 PM yeah, its hard to find Cypress in oregon.....i have a friend putting a order together for alot of it, but dnot know when, just checking other ways to get it....
NoahHart 02-09-2009, 01:52 PM Its still going to be much more expensive than Aspen. At least out here.

aspen here is more expensive. i can get a 50 pound bag of cypress mulch here for a little over 3 bucks. aspen bedding cost alot more if its dust free but you can get the small 2 pound bags of aspen for around 6 bucks. dust free at pet stores is like 12 bucks for a 2 pound bag. since i only have 5 snakes and 5 cages i use newspaper lol

Just depends on what part of the country your in which is more expensive.

Most places don't carry it in the winter. I learned that the hard way last year. Luckily there's a large scale breeder not too far from me who buys it by the truck load and was willing to part with a few bags if I drove the 2.5 hours to pick it up.
Chimpkin 02-09-2009, 03:37 PM If you have a Tractor Supply near you they should have aspen. I buy a big bag for like $8. Much cheaper that pet stores. Cypress is tough to get this time of year. I would check the mom & pop landscaping places near you. Lowes and HD don't usually stock it through the winter.
NoahHart 02-09-2009, 03:39 PM I have checked small stores too. Nobody has it out here right now. Except the small bags at pet stores. I just gave up and am sticking to Aspen but I will check back in a couple months.
Chico_Reptiles 02-09-2009, 03:47 PM Doesn't that suck... All of us on the west coast get the shaft on cypress. I did some checking. Kamlar cypress is only 2.25 a bag but you have to buy a pallet of 80 bags. The best shipping rate to Ca. was $991. Anyone in SC can just go buy a pallet for $180. So not fair....I did comfirm that Kamlar is who supplies T-rex so it is the same. I am currently looking to find a way to get a pallet over here through other conections. Hopefully it works out.
LP Reptiles 02-09-2009, 05:31 PM smae here about $1000 too
JChandler 02-09-2009, 09:08 PM Kamlar is sold at a couple local places by me, sent them an email and they supplied me with a few local places that I was able to pick it up at....may help in the spring but who knows about right now...
LP Reptiles 02-09-2009, 10:34 PM kamlar is far away from me
Chris 02-09-2009, 10:55 PM Thank god for FL:)

if you can find a place to buy it use a freight company to deliver it. freight companys are cheaper. i can have 1 ton on a pallet shipped for around 400 to 500 bucks.
http://www.freightcenter.com/Index.aspx call these people they should be able to save you 400 to 500 on shipping.
