asplundii 02-12-2009, 11:16 AM Looks to be lacking yellow. I hesitate to say axanthic having not seen any axanthic as hatchlings

That's what first came to mind for me as well....maybe Axanthic?

The thing is....there are no proven "axanthics" in the states.
Hard to compare her to anything. Haha.
She does look to be lacking yellow.....but, you didn't hear me say Axanthic! Hahaha.
Actually, these pictures give her more color than she really has.
I've hatched 100's and 100's of Carpets in my day....but, this one stands out.
I guess we'll see as she grows and produces for me. She'll be going back to her daddy!
Cheers,
D.
She's a hottie that's for sure...
Clay Davenport 02-12-2009, 11:53 AM I'm sure you've hatched far more carpets than I have, and that one is definitely lacking more color than would be considered normal variation. I've hatched them out as black and silver to black and cream, but I don't remember hatching anything exactly like that.
I wouldn't try to call it anything though at that age, you know the degree of changes they go through as they grow.
She would definitely be worth holding onto to see how she develops though, and a couple of years from now you'll be able to tell much better if anything is going on with her.
FloridaHogs 02-12-2009, 11:58 AM She does look special
norsmis 02-12-2009, 12:19 PM Derek that snake is ugly as hell. Send her to me and I will let you know how she does.....
Seriously, I think you might be on to something bro. I would hold her back and breed her back to dad.....
Rapture 02-12-2009, 01:37 PM I had a Coastal with that kind of look-

Varanus99 02-12-2009, 05:42 PM She looks very unusual to me. Id hang on to that little lady.
xanaxez 02-12-2009, 06:09 PM she does look a little different with the reduced coloring. i seen one that looked just like her on a forum or ks here a month or so ago sitting on something similiar to yours and almost bought it. regardless of rather it is or isnt i'd keep it also lol it's a little smoker for sure.
Larry 02-12-2009, 06:37 PM She does look different.. It seems axanthics from other species have almost a blue look as hatchlings, then again I noticed you didn't use that word...;) Anywho she is very nice and good luck proving or disproving, whatever is or isn't going on...wow..:)
JChandler 02-12-2009, 06:59 PM First stage of some new line off in the distant future maybe....

RichardA 02-12-2009, 07:04 PM Looks horrible.....better send her here before she infects all of your others.....

Gator 02-12-2009, 08:08 PM Weird? No. Pleasantly awesome?? Hell yeah. Please update us in a couple months so we can see the changes..
anendeloflorien 02-12-2009, 08:12 PM She's definitely a looker man! I can't really say much since I don't have any real experience with carpets but they're on my must have list :D
Derek Roddy 02-12-2009, 08:32 PM Thanks everyone....I dig her and for sure, will hang on to her.
yeah, she hatched from a sib to sib breeding. We'll see....I don't want to go so far to say it's "this or that"...I just thought she was "odd". Right out of the egg..she looked different but, wanted to wait awhile to get opinions.
I'll keep ya'll updated.
Cheers,
D.
does look different when you put the pic next to the sib.......thats for sure. I guess time will tell.........!
