I have had experience with the Van ness tubs, just never the pet mates. I will be building a rat birthing rack soon. I think I have seen the pet mates one time before and they seemed pretty thick. Which would you choose? :yessir:

Hmmmm, I haven't seen either lol. Do you have a link to anything that shows what they are? I've just got my rats in a rack with the concrete mixing tubs and 1/2" hardware cloth on top.

Yeah I have those too but I am going to start separating my females to birth. I like the size of both the large van ness and the Pet mate because I can double up if need be. I have found out the only way I will be able to get consistent numbers of rats is to breed them in the rotating cycle.

Yeah I'm learning that also. I had all my girls drop on the same day a few months ago. I've only got 5 girls that were breeding but I would up with 70+ babies all at once and then a couple months later I've got NOTHING! A few of them just dropped again and I've got 6 females I'm raising up to be breeders so I'm gonna start cycling them. Probably 6 on one month 6 on the next should get me fairly consistent production. I've only got 10 snakes that eat rats right now but they all love live!

I posted information on these two products and their differences in the last month or so in this Rodent forum. A search of my posts should turn it up.
