Glad you liked them. Large snakes always seem to be a good conversation piece!! lol. You should see the responses I get from non-reptile people.

That thing is around 200lbs and somewhere in the neighborhood of 15'. It was found in a dumpster still in its terrarium when it was about 6', skinny as hell and covered in mites. It was found by some kids and when animal control showed up they were afraid to catch it because it was trying to bite them.

They called my friend who rescued the poor thing and has had it for the last 7 years. It it is apart of many school presentations where the kids are able to interact with Tubby (fitting name).

He can be seen on display every year at the Minnesota and Wisconsin State fairs along with many other huge snakes, around 30 different venomous rattlers, an 8' Alligator who is super friendly and many other reptiles.

Big snake. Nice job on the rescue.

Sadly a lot of burmese suffer a similar fate. I was around during Burm Mania back in the '80s. The 'binos had come down in price enough that they were affordable to every day people, not just hardcore herpers. Plus, the normal burms were being bred in mass numbers and were cheap. Thus extremely popular.

We used to call them boomerangs since every time we sold one (I worked in pet shops then) it would come back about 6 months later. 6' long and mean as a tick. That seems to be the cut off. Once they hit about 6' people dont want them any more. Having a giant snake seems like a cool idea until you actually do it. Only certain people are cut out to own giant snakes.

Ive got to people's homes to collect their unwanted burms many times. They were too terrified of it to even open the cage.

That just sucks man.
Burms are such a joy to keep and you really gotta mess with them to make em mean…
So sad…

I like how in all these references to the big snakes EVERYONE had help. The cuban gets out there and all of a sudden everyone has forgotten how to handle snakes and I'm "the guy".
