I have been looking to get one for a couple of years now and I just haven't found that perfect animal. I know they are everywhere but I want a great show animal. Any ideas? I have tried NERD, Proexotics and a couple of others.
Who here keeps them? Any pictures?

You pretty much need a room to keep these guys in.(Or a huge cage) They get huge. They are the biggest monitor of all. They love to soak. They will eat you outta house and home. lol Do you have any others. If not I think most people would say start with an ackie. The need 130 to 150 degree basking spots. What do you want to know about them.

Rudd I think they are awesome but I simply dont have the space for an animal that large. Thats the only reason I dont have any. I did at one time many years ago. Wonderful animal. But he outgrew me and I had to find him a better situation.
The ones I have seen on Pro Exotics site look pretty damn nice. Cherry picked. Also Reptile Guru has been captive breeding them for some time now. Ive seen some of their offspring and they look quite good. They call some of them "high yellow" and believe it may be dominate or co-dominate trait. Jury is still out on that but they have produced some beauties. And its also nice to aquire captive bred varanids whenever possible MHO.
LOL, thanks Rick. I am far from the guy who has had reptiles a couple of years and is just looking to get all the cool stuff. I do appreciate the reaction though, I have had to take in many lizards people thought were cool and soon realized they made a mistake.
Varnus, I have talked with both. The last group of babies PE had were marginal and I am having a hard time buying one of Reptiel Guru's for $400. I don't know why because they are beautiful, I guess I just want to make sure they color up as they say they do.
I was hoping someone had a connection of a small time breeder. However, getting good referrals for Reptile Guru may make it easier for me to make the purchase.

I wish I knew a small time breeder. But the words "small" and "water monitor" usually dont go in the same sentence
If it helps any Ive seen some pics on other forums of RG waters that were a year old, pretty big by then and they still looked very good.
PE is gonna be hit or miss. Ive seen some drop dead gorgeous animals there and some ehhh. Luck of the draw.
LOL. I should have chose my words more carefully.
