Larry 03-09-2009, 09:26 AM Box turtles are always fun to find and never get old.. My kids go nuts when I bring a turtle home every now and then..
Spring is almost here..
FloridaHogs 03-09-2009, 09:29 AM Hey, I don't see the herp in that first pic!
jviperidae 03-09-2009, 09:33 AM Great field shots, the variety in your area is astounding. Looks like you know where to find them too, are those last two salamanders a long tail and a western slimy? What species of snake is that? Truly envious.
Nice finds, even the mushroom. Some of us are heading to Southern IL to Snake Road in April.
JOHNS6068 03-09-2009, 09:42 AM Cool shots....can't wait till spring gets here :)

Your right on the money on the salamanders. The snake is a western worm snake.

I have yet to make it to snake road but I have been to a place in Southern IL where the section your walking is only about a 1/2 mile long and there is a huge rock wall on one side as your walking along the wall this is no joke we seen over 50 cottonmouths (actually a little scary they were even in low hanging limbs that you brushed up against), 3 timber rattlesnakes, 1 copperhead, and more green vine and black ratsnakes then I could have even tried to count. It might have been near snake road.
Morels are a couple months away for me yet. Nice selection of critters.
surfinball 03-09-2009, 10:45 AM Nice! Those salamanders are awesome looking. Good pics
Mrs. Sputnik 03-09-2009, 10:54 AM Once again awesome herp finds and looks like nice variety out that way
