does any one think the bad economy will bring the prices down on higher priced morphs

It already is across the board. I'm primarily a boa guy so I can't say what BP morphs aren't as affected as much but a Blood Boas & Sabogaes seem to be holding up fairly well. I did see a lot of the morphs take a 50% or higher hit this year. Its a damn shame when you see nice hypo boas listed at $75.

I think it will. Also the economy may make people hold on to their available cash a little tighter now too.. Especially if the dems get into office..

Judging by the lack of sales I'm hearing about , I think areas that hit harder are hanging onto their cash more than the areas not so affected yet.

I don't think any one species will be affected more than any other. It will more along the cheaper morphs will sell likely sell faster than those in higher price range all across the board.

guys just remember when the prices go down, and general people stop buying, its time to start investing. Get some of these projects ready for when others have money and are willing to spend it.

I've seen some BP morphs such as albino and pied selling for lower than usual prices, but that could be that they are being produced in more numbers to tip the supply and demand standard. I think it will be like gasoline. People will not buy what they can't afford, and sellers will have to lower prices or keep feeding their herps that have a price tag on them.
I think eventually the economy will stabilize (hopefully) and things, including the herp trade will get back to normal.

Can you say 4-5 quarter recession -- I'm just hoping I can still feed the ones I've got plus the ones I'm getting in through rescue through this mess.

Yessir I agree. We as a community can help by being as level headed as possible. I understand we each have different situations but good business practices shouldn't suffer..

People need to think about housing and feeding their stock being it's now breeding season. If you can't afford to sit on animals then don't produce so many..

The economy is hitting all markets. It will have its way with are our industry as well. The thing that is tuff in our market is that once a price is lowered on a morph it kind of sticks there.

I would rather hold all my animals for a full year and two if I have to!
Woulld you rather crap on the market or sell 500 gram smokin animals in a year. What will those 1200 gram morphs bring in two years? Whats a few rats going to cost ya ? I say we controll the market by holding the line on what we deserve to get for our hard work. I understand everyone has a different situation and sometimes you are forced financially to drop prices. I myself dont see anything wrong with selling 500 gram animals ! Just one mans 2 cents!

Well way up here on the north side of the border this year all the shows i went to the sales were a lot slower. So the slowing economy must be playing a role here to.

I do think people are holding onto their money, but just as the economy can take a dive it can also recover.... bit like the stock market if you ask me.... up and down is part of it.

You just gotta hold on when your in a dive and wait it out as best you can...

I spent more money this year than I ever have on reptiles. This morning I filled my car up for $2.60 a gallon. Thats a buck a gallon cheaper than is was earlier this summer. So, since gas is coming down that means more reptile money for me.

I honestly think that talk of a bad economy will make people crap their pants and sell, sell, sell! At any price. It's foolish. I may be beating a dead horse but breeders should be nudging the prices up right now. People will buy eventually.
