View Full Version : Feeding Schedules
Larry 10-10-2008, 11:16 AM I 'd like to get everybodies opinions on feeding schedules. I pretty much feed my adult female breeders once a week during the off season.
Pre breeding season I'll feed them as much as they'll eat or whatever it takes to get them nice and heavy.
During the breeding season once they start to shut down I'll go to once every 10-14days.
Tosha 10-10-2008, 07:12 PM I offer everything once a week(ish) - if they are off feed I can always find someone to eat any left overs. My males will tend to go off feed during breeding season more than my females so the girls generally get their leftovers.
13north 10-12-2008, 09:46 PM I pretty much feed once a week. Nothing to big as I dont push my snakes. But they all get offered rats once a week, most eat every week.
TnT Reptiles 10-12-2008, 09:49 PM I feed my guys once a week year round.
West Coast Pythons 10-13-2008, 01:48 AM Its a friday night tradition! A cold beer and a tub of rats ! I offer feed once a week and will offer a few extra meals for females that Im trying to get to weight for breeding. I have had more issues with males also once breeding starts.
All depends on who we're talking about...Breeder females - Once a week in the off season - As much as they want in the breeding season (usually 3 x a week) - Twice a week when their gaining there weight back...Yearlings get it once every 5 days...Babies usually once every 5 days unless it's a male who I want to breed the same year - They get it once every 3 days...Damn I need more rats...:D
Chaos 10-13-2008, 08:40 AM Baby males that I'm gonna breed ...every other day,,,,,,,,breeder females or close to breeding size i will offer small rats every day. thats about 900 rats and about 400 to 500 mice a week ...........

Taken it to them...:D
After my female pied laid this year I was really pounding her with rats, several times a week. The eggs haven't even hatched yet and she's ready for this season..:)
maraten12 10-13-2008, 12:03 PM once a week. and the females get two feedings a week leading up to the breeding season. the males and females normally stop during breeding. babies get offered food every four days
pwilliams58 10-13-2008, 01:42 PM Once a week in the off season, every other day for females getting ready to breed, every 5 days for 08's I'm raising up, and every 3 days for 08 males I plan to breed.
sdreptiles 10-14-2008, 12:05 AM I feed anything under a year every 5 days. Anything older than a year old every 7 days.
Wildmorph Pythons 10-14-2008, 08:48 AM I feed every 5 days for animals under 800 grams. Once an animal hits that 500 gram mark giver or take they get move from a 6qt tub to the 32's and they get offered every 7 days. Girls that I am trying to get that breeding weight back on them after laying they get the biggest rat they'll take every 5 days for like 3-4 months. Prime example I got a Pin from Bt in Daytona (thanks bro) he was in that 80-95 gram range this morning he is 280-300 grams and just pounds everything food, fingers, water bottles everything is food to him.
Doing this I've got 06 females that are 2500 grams and never miss a meal I really think this is what works for my animals.
Hey man - Glad to hear that little ringer Pin is still going strong...He came out smashing food...
AaronP 10-14-2008, 10:46 AM During the off season my adults get 1 meal a week. About 3-4 months before I start increasing their schedule to every 5-4 days, after that I'll offer food every 3 days, assuming they ate the last time I offered, otherwise it defaults to once a week.
My juveniles I try to feed them every 5 days year around, sometimes I'll double feed in 1 day depending on the snake. For instance my blood will take 2 small rats no problem in 1 sitting, but if I try to spread that out she won't eat the 2nd one.
constrictorkeeper 10-15-2008, 07:37 PM as often as they want. they'll stop before they pop.
ck
once or twice a week LOL depends on if i forgot which snakes i fed earlier than week ;)
shrap 10-19-2008, 11:51 AM Hatchling hold backs I feed twice a week until 200 grams. Then go every 5 days until 500 grams. Then go every week.
For about two months leading up to breeding season (mid August) I will feed my breeding girls every 5 days. Then kick them back to every 7.
Cornball 10-19-2008, 12:18 PM I feed once per week. When the big girls are pounding up I may offer several rats to get then full.
JChandler 10-19-2008, 12:22 PM Once a week for everything unless I am trying to get weight on something then I offer 2-3 times a week.
147BOAS 10-25-2008, 09:44 PM once a week year round and if the dont want it the dont eat its just simple for me to do it that way
BryonsBoas 10-25-2008, 09:50 PM I have a batch of babies that I feed every 3 days or so. I have tons of weaned ASF so I pick out the ones that don't leave a bulge. Its easier than raising a couple hundred feeders to a larger size just to feed every 5 days. I have adults that get weekly feedings and female in breeding prep thats getting a couple of adult asf every 3 - 5 days.
