I have been kicking around Retic investments again now that my facility is near finished and I was wondering what everyone thought the coolest project out there is? I have two projects I would love to plug in both from NERD.

First would be the Hypo Stripe!! That orange Monster is bad ass!! and I will not rest until I have one!! :SAMHAIN:

My second pick because I already have Platinum blood would have to be a Golden Child. Het Albino preferably.

as a resident of new your state, i will never get to be a customer for either of those smokin' projects. unless they somehow let the forebidden species law get dissected on a morph by morph basis (why should'nt i be able to have a super dwarf reticulatus ? ), which i don't see happening. so state law-makers effectively removed the craving from my tastebuds. but i gotta say that i've admired that goldenchild from afar like a hungry pavlov dog with full saliva flowin'...man, that thang is hot. that's my opinion for what it's worth.

The ghost stripe has my vote as well. Not too fond of the the GC's, as Kevin has already done pretty much everything with them, and the fact that the GC gene pretty much takes over any other pattern morph you could plug into it, so you pretty much just end up with different colored GC's. Not that I would ever REFUSE one, but I wouldn't drop 8K on one either.

The anthrax retics are pretty bad ass, also. I'd invest in one of those if I had the cash.

Next year I plan on getting into the ghost stripe project, and starting some sunfire combo projects. Like Albino Sunfire GStripe or something along those lines. Already working on the Albino Super Suntiger project. :)

You're right, there is alot that hasn't been done with the GC gene, or atleast, alot we haven't seen yet. Still, seeing what has come out already, I still wouldn't drop 15K+ on a male. As soon as more than a couple people start working with them, the price is going to crash on them. Not that it will be like the price of sunfires now, but it will be hard to make back your initial investment in a season with the clutch size on these dom/codom dwarves and the fact that alot of people aren't going to be willing to pay that kind of money for it in the current economy.

They do look cool, but I think the ghost stripes have alot more potential and will hold their value longer. Like i said, I wouldn't ever turn one down if offered to me, but not at the prices NERD wants for them.

I honestly dont think 15K is a bad price for a male myself. Its co-dom and everything you put it to is gold and say Kevin sells one to me? I have 20 females just waiting to be bred. I wont make 15k back? the first year that animal produces sperm you will no doubt make 10 times the initial investment.

People dont think the Reptile game is still very lucrative but the numbers are still there when you think of the initial investment versus the years of breeding genetics one of these snakes can add to your projects.

I know that Kevin says they are codom, but from what I have seen, I don't see a difference between the GC's and the ones he has labeled as "Poss Supers". The fact that he calls them Possible supers leaves doubt in my mind that it is a codom trait. It does look cool. And I suppose that if you have that kind of cash laying around to spend on a male, that's up to you. I'm sure you know more about the retic business than I do, as I've only been breeding tics for a couple years, and haven't really marketed my offspring at all. It just seems to me, if you bought an 08 male, by the time he's ready the price of GC's will have dropped by half atleast. That's not taking into account if you want to produce supers, you will have to grow up a female. You may be able to make back your initial investment by breeding that one male to a bunch of females, but as it is, I don't see GC's flying off NERD's shelves. Kevin already has a whole crapload of them that he can flood the market with at any time, considering he's been working on this project long enough to have poss supers, gc ghost stripes, gc tigers, etc. This is just my view on the subject. It's impossible to know what the future holds for the morph, and the fact that it is a dwarf morph gives it a little more appeal to those who wouldn't normally buy a full sized tic. Just from my view on it, though, I wouldn't buy a GC as an investment. It would be a different story if it was just something I had to have in my collection, but I can wait for that. The Ghost Stripes are something that I can't wait to work with, which is why I plan to get a pair next year. Those may hold their value and be marketable enough to make my money back, but that isn't the reason I will get them. If you feel that it is a great investment, go for it. I wish you luck in getting some exciting combos.

I think the golden child project is badass!! If I was into the retics it would definately be a have to have.
