This is how to post images here in the Bush-League Breeders Club. At the moment we not allowing image hosting on our server so you will need to hotlink any images you wish to post from another server.

This is how step by step

Once you have an image you'd like to post you'll need to open an account with http://photobucket.com/ or a similar type of image hosting site.

Once you have created an account. Locate the "Browse" button and click on it.

Once you click on the Browse button it'll open a small window with some files listed inside your computer. Find the image you wish to post and double click on it.

After double clicking on the image you'll need to click on the "Upload" button in order to upload the image on to the web.

After the image is finished downloading you'll see the image listed below with links included under the image. Click on the "Direct link" button. Once it is highlighted you'll need to right click, then copy the image url

After you have copied the image url. Come back to the club and click on "New thread" or "Post reply" after that opens you'll fine the image button located here. Click on it.

When the small window opens you'll see a place to enter that image url you just copied. Paste that image url there by right clicking inside the address bar and clicking paste. After which click ok

Now you'll see your image url listed in the message area like this.

http://i461.photobucket.com/albums/qq334/larry_suttles/image_2.jpg

All you'll need to do now is click on the "Submit new thread" or "Post reply" and your image/picture will be posted.

Just keep in mind not to post images larger than 800X600 mega pixels because it'll stretch out the desk top and slow things slow a bit.

To make your images smaller you can either change the settings on your camera or resize your image before hand or in photobuck..

You can make it a little simpler. If you look at Larry's 4th pic, spots down from the Direct link is an IMG code If you just copy that and paste it directly into the thread it will work too, no need to hit the little "moon over mountains" button

This rather obvious question has probably been asked by others though I haven't read it being asked, so I'll ask-- Given space is so cheap, why not enable loading photos directly into the site. The hot linking will have a percentage of dead links in the future as people move on or abandon their web based photo accounts.

Acutally in the begining we steered away from that option mainly because we just didn't know how much it would weigh on the club overall. The more I look into it the more I lean towards enabling that option.

Good. Linking inevitably results in a back trail with dead links over time, which isn't a good look for the board.

That is true, people clean out photo hosts from time to time and you lose links.

What happened? I had been posting pics as attachments. Is this permanent?

With all the activity around the league including thousands of images being uploaded, the database has been taking a beating. When the database takes a beating it increases server load which drastically decreases performance.

So until we make the grand switch over to a more high performance server we are limited the members who can upload images to "Officers" only.

This is just temporary until we do make that switch. Sorry for any inconvenience this may cause.

You can view the ranking system HERE (http://www.reptileradio.net/reptileradio/showthread.php?t=67)

I just signed up for a photobucket account, and it wasn't the least bit painful. I'm terribly technologically resistant, so had really been putting it off.
