While we visiting our good buddy Gib , Lolo ( my nicer half ) fell in love with a runt BP he hatched. She sweet talked him out of it and in a 6 qt here he went. He refused food first couple of offerings so we chose to assist feed him to get him started. 3 assist feedings later I opted to give him a try on a hopper mouse.

He is a bit shy but within 20 minutes ....BAM ... the runt took his first meal all on his own.

On another note , I got the new pastel male over to F/T first try. OH SQUEEE.

I can't take all the credit. Since Lolo wanted him she did the assist feeding. I just happened to be the one to toss the hopper in but it is a good feeling to see them finally take off.

Congrats! It's such a rewarding feeling when you have a stubborn feeder decide to eat!

Thanks folks. I have 1 more hatchling left to get eating but his weight is far better than the runt's was starting out so I can wait him out awhile longer.

It must be the lack of sleep today, too many snakes are cooperating. I got the Albino BP to take F/T off of tongs this morning. WOOT!

Congrats that's good to hear. I have one that I've assist fed twice now so this gives me hope that he will start on his own very soon.

if it's doin' most of the work when you assist feed (taking over right away), you'll very soon have it eating on it's own.
let us know when the blessed moment happens.
