Good luck with them.. :yessir: constrictorkeeper 10-26-2008, 02:20 PM see the "is the only" post. ck West Coast Pythons 10-26-2008, 02:38 PM Thanks I will check it out ! I have been on the fence about spending that much right now but I think it will be a great project! Varanus99 10-26-2008, 04:14 PM I posted in the other thread but just cant help myself... Ackies are fantastic little monitors. I dont know anyone who has purchased them and regretted it. They are active, inquisitive and just plain funny. I had one female breed at 6 months old and produce fertile eggs. I had another female TRIPLE clutch for the first time this year. The secret? Heat'em and feed'em! Thats about it. Keep'em hot and feed'em a lot and they will do their thing. The tricky part is getting the nesting down and incubating those damn eggs. Overall though I find them a fun and interesting project. Its nice to work with animals at least on occasion who have so much personality. One of my females will leave her burrow when I open the cage, climb up the cork bark top the platform, climb into my hand, up my arm and take a roach from my shoulder. No fear in this animals. Not a bit. Thats my trained ackie right there. She trained herself, lol. constrictorkeeper 10-26-2008, 04:21 PM I posted in the other thread but just cant help myself... How about ball of raw turkey on the shoulder? That better? Yeah they really do have their own personalities. Of course they have many similarities but most have their little quirks. I have one who doesnt like to make its own burrows but prefers to steal the burrows of others. I have another guy who loses his mind for super worms. Dont ask me why I dont know but show him a super worm he loses it. I got some super tame females who I literally have to throw off me they freakin' love me so much. Or at least want a meal or a way out of the cage! And I got my one shy girl...very rare for an ackie..who still retreats to the burrow at the sight of me. Unless I have food. Then she's all 'bout it 'bout it. Oh, and I have one who sleeps upside down now and then. Dont ask, I dont know. Their personality! I hear monitors have some of the best personalities and are quite funny to watch and interact with. Varanus99 11-12-2008, 06:31 PM Ackies are hilarious. If you keep them in a group of at least three and the conditions are to their liking they are the biggest goofballs you will ever see. jknudson 11-12-2008, 06:39 PM Ackies are hilarious.
