View Full Version : Herp Room Renovation Phase 2
Chimpkin 10-27-2008, 02:21 PM Here are some updated pics of the herp room renovation. The herp room is now the herp suite with attached bath and a half. I have been working on it a lot over the weekend. The only thing left to finish is to move everything into place, electrical and trim work. Basically fit & finish.
This first pic shows the plumbing I did to add a hose to the room. I canned the idea of having a utility sink because there is no drain in that room. Now I have a hose to fill water bowls and such.

This picture shows the basic layout of the room so far and the completed floor.

I finally got this new incubator moved into the room. It weights about 150 pounds and is used to support half of the work surface. I am going to build some storage to finish it all off. Where the cart is on the right will be where another rack goes.

Last but not lease, if you walk through two bi-fold doors in my herp room you come to the 2nd part of the herp suite. The bathroom. Its still very messy and unfinished so try to ignore that.

Phase 3 coming soon...
Chimpkin 10-27-2008, 02:25 PM Hey Larry can you move the Renovation Part 1 from General Herp to Caging and Enclosures? This seems more appropriate. Thanks.
Larry 10-27-2008, 02:31 PM Yessir where did you post the first thread?
Ps looking good brother...
Chimpkin 10-27-2008, 02:37 PM Herp Room Renovation is the name of the original thread. It is in General Reptiles. Thanks Larry.
Cornball 10-27-2008, 04:08 PM You had a busy weekend. Nice!
constrictorkeeper 10-27-2008, 04:57 PM lookin' awesome bro.
i love the idea of being able to watch the action in the racks while
choppin' a deuce (assuming the bi-folds are open of course). beats readin' on the bowl any day( not to mention the whole time management angle ). sheer higher genius at work there. i humbly bow to your superior intellect, and your well placed plumbing.
good luck with gettin' 'er done.

BobDuB 10-27-2008, 07:30 PM you've got a Jones soda incubator?!? Dude that is so sweet! That is my favorite part of your room, and the rest of the room is awesome too.
I have always planned on setting up an incubator similar to that, just never thought to get a jones one, now I have to find one.
147BOAS 10-27-2008, 07:33 PM looking really good
grunt_11b2007 10-27-2008, 08:18 PM Wow you really did a good job.. The floor looks awesome. Hell the whole thing is killer!! Great job!

Chimpkin 10-29-2008, 11:27 AM Good luck on finding on of those Jones soda coolers BobDuB! I couldn't even find out any information about it online. I have a friend who used to have a concert hall and they served Jones. He still had this in his basement. It doesn't work, but we think it could be fixed easily if we ever wanted to use it as a cooler. I doubt I will though.

Drew87 10-29-2008, 01:50 PM WOw it looks great, you do some good work congrats :yourock:
Sputnik 10-29-2008, 01:56 PM Is this in a basement?
Looks like it will be a great set up.... nice work!
I see the shower, all you need is a fridge and TV and you won't have to leave the room.... :)
Chimpkin 10-29-2008, 02:02 PM I'm working on that Sputnik! Right now I am wiring it for sound. I am going to have sound pumped in from the other room for now. I have a nice set of indoor/outdoor speakers that I am no longer using that I am going to install in there. It will all link back to my computer where I can do a cleaning or feeding playlist and rock out. Then I am going to eventually get a small lcd tv to mount over my work area.

Sounds like the perfect room.... keep us posted on the improvements.
Eric Burke 10-29-2008, 09:01 PM looking good my man
BobDuB 10-29-2008, 09:18 PM chimpkin, well I guess I will have to start looking. I will have something of a leed, the store across the street from my office actually has, or had a full size jones cooler. I should check in with them about where they go it, or just maybe see if I can "borrow" it. kidding (maybe). Plus there are a lot of stores around here that carry it, just need to talk to once of their reps some time.
Larry 10-29-2008, 11:28 PM Nice job going with the tile floor. I can't wait till I have a snakeroom with a tile floor..
Chimpkin 10-29-2008, 11:38 PM Larry I can't even begin to tell you how much better a tile floor is than carpet. I bumped into something the other night and dropped a water bowl, reached over a grabbed a few paper towels and wiped it up. When I pulled the carpet up in there it was stained and nasty on the back.
You can just sweep up the bedding and stuff that hits the floor, mop that baby and you're done!
Alicia Holmes 11-03-2008, 03:53 PM Yeah, a bathroom in the herp room.... THAT ROCKS!
Seriously, NICE setup! tile or hard floors are seriously the way to go. Nothing like a quick swiffer sweep to get those extra bits of bedding off the floor.
Or a big ole broom or quick vaccum.
Nice! You gotta post a video of this one, id love to see how the whole room looks!!!

Chimpkin 11-04-2008, 01:30 PM Now if I just had a couple hundred more square feet. I'm going to have to go to the ceilings in this room to pack in everything I want.
