I had the day off today so I decided to get some field herping in locally after the Snake Road trip! I didn't manage to find very many snakes and not the copper or timber that I was after....but I did find a newt that I have never seen in Indiana before and I got some cool pics from a new area!

I've said this before but I'm a firm believer :D...............A bad day herpin' is better than a good day at work. Nice pics.

I was thinking that as well because of the spotting....it was the solid red/orange that threw me. Man I need a good ID book!!

Looks like a nice trail walk.

Your newt is an Eastern Newt (Notophthalmus viridescens)

The first sallie is a Long Tail Salamander (Eurycea longicauda)

The frog is a Green Frog (Rana clamitans)

The toad is an American Toad (Bufo americanus)

The snake is a Ringneck (Diadophus punctatus)

That was a pretty nice little bit of herpin'!
