View Full Version : Wolf Park Outing
JChandler 05-23-2009, 10:12 PM Well it is really much smaller than I even thought in my head, but 100% privately funded and really nice...would love to go back in the winter when they look their best and take some time to get some good shots.
Sorry for the fence shadow in the coyote pic, I couldn't get one without it and it was to cool to watch them playing around.
We did get to see the herd of buffalo and I watched the wolf shaking off just swim around the lake since it was hot out there....we did find a couple of toads and saw a nice sized snapping turtle way off in the distance but not much else as far as herps go.
beclende 05-23-2009, 10:16 PM Good work man....I had a good time and can't wait to see them in all their fury glory this fall!
147BOAS 05-23-2009, 10:18 PM nice pictures jeff
Melanie 05-23-2009, 10:21 PM Cool shots, Jeff! Looks like a cool place to hang!
BobDuB 05-23-2009, 10:22 PM Great pictures Jeff. Its always fun to see wildlife.
Great shots. Wolf Park is quite small but they are there to educate the public on wolves and their studies of them. Made a nice day trip with the kids. We also got to see Bryce and Mike (Bassett) too which was cool.
JOHNS6068 05-23-2009, 10:36 PM Nice shots Jeff...That third one is pretty sweet...Whats the deal with the buffalo?? Is that part of the wolves menu or something separate from them?

They use the Bison for a demonstration with the wolves on how the wolves hunt. Neither side is harmed during the demonstration but it shows how the wolves would try to corner off a baby or an injured Bison. They do those demos on Sundays so we didn't get to see it.

Even better when you get to go out on the truck that goes into the field for it. Got to do that once years and years ago.
Patrick Long 05-23-2009, 11:06 PM I didnt even notice the fence until I read the post. Hardly visible IMO.
That place looks amazing.
Having been very few places outside of Cali, it is just crazy to imagine that there is enough open space that is not covered in agricultural things.

No Liz that's Monty who has been taking pics at the park for a long time so he knows all of the wolves really well.
