I admit if I'm freebieing out to friends I make them come get it, pay for shipping, or promise offspring. But I give too much :):):):) away to carry the load :lmao:

Maybe I should point out, there's usually a big show to go to at the same time.... LOL

Most of mine are hand delivered also but the ones that I do have to ship I normally pick up at least half if not all of the shipping depending on who it is...

Friends are definitely the best thing to have in this hobby! I'd like to be friends with Ralph Davis or Brian at BHB....:wamma:

I haven't produced a whole lot yet but I've given things away for free and made real good deals. Friends are great!

Well I to go with freebers trades and other things for close friends and deals for those aquaintances. Im no real breeder by any means just a hobby for me so share when I can.

It usually comes arund as well like good karma usually ive been lucky to have some good friends in return

Well, I've not made any money in this so far - I'm either gifting animals to friends (because people have been very kind to me so far and I believe in paying it forward) or doing trades. Friends definitely get treated like gold!

I wonder if I'll ever make money - because I'm such a softie with friends and just want to help give them a hand up when I can.

Even with my normal males this year that I could have made $20 a piece at my local pet store that wanted my "throw-aways", I'm giving them to people who will give them a good pet home. After that petstore called them throw-aways, I said "no thank you". They may not have "value" in money to you - but their life has great value to me!

Robin sounds like your on the path of not having pet stores talk to you either like me...:lol:

Robin -- you and me both -- I think I gave more away this year than I sold -- and I traded anything that would have brought in any real money -- so I might break even this year -- although Hubby would love for me to make money -- it's just not in the cards for me. :D


Jeff -- the pet stores still call me -- every time they have a bunch of snakes that don't feed. :D

I do freebies on things or really good trades or super good deals. I don't really have any herp friends that I don't see on occasion, so shipping isn't an issue. They can wait till I see them if they want my stuff.

My friends are pretty good to me, too. I get pretty good deals on their animals or good trades. Sometimes I end up with some free stuff, but it's not usually something I'm really excited to bring home. I ended up with a beardie that had been beaten up by it's little clutchmates. I ended up having to amputate one of it's arms and nurse it back to health. I also ended up with 2 fairly healthy ones as well. I hadn't really wanted the beardies, but my wife thought they were cute, so we ended up bringing them home.
