Well folks besides keeping snakes, I also do a few hands on shows for the local scouts, boys and girls in our area, usually for free. I look at it this way, we gotta give it back to the kids. Education is where it starts.

I personally like keeping a few native animals here for such that occasion.

The other weekend we went to the country to a local rabbit breeder to buy frozen feeders and found this wee toad. He decided to come home with us and took some great photos.

Thanks folks,
Yeah, education is probably one of the top highlights as a herp owner. It helps our cause as breeders and makes people less afraid of the animals.

I guess one of my favorite things about doing a show like this is actually when we bring out our Burm and showing it to the kids. She is a 15 foot snake and just to see their amazement and the awe in their little faces when they first see her is priceless.

Last year we did a show at a grade school. We have a box Turtle that we enjoy bringing and there was this one girl who was slightly afraid of it and she said she never touched a Turtle in her life.
With some coaching and talking to, the little girl held out her hand and I placed the turtle in her hands. She was scared but amazed all at the same time.

Later on we got a package of thank you cards and drawings of many of our animals. We got one from the girl and she said it was her Favorite animal from the show and she was happy to hold it.

One thing living in an Urban area, many of these kids today have never seen or personally held a frog, toad or even a Garter Snake. I enjoy giving them that opportunity.
