Chimpkin 11-02-2008, 06:03 PM Those Saharan's are very cool. I was at the Columbus, OH show and some people had a pair marked Kenyan sand boas. I tried to tell them that they were not Kenyans and they just looked at me like I was stupid. Once you are used to seeing them you can easily tell the difference.
Mrs. Sputnik 11-02-2008, 06:56 PM Nice looking and I like their colors
JOHNS6068 11-02-2008, 09:05 PM Nice looking Sand Boas. I wouldn't mind having a couple someday :)

smilin-buddha 03-17-2010, 12:11 PM Do you keep them in a rack system
FRoberts 03-17-2010, 12:17 PM Love them!!!!!!!!
Been wanting Sand Boas for a long time!!!
Do you keep them in a rack system
No, I keep the three of them together in a 30 gallon long tank on eco earth. They seem to do well.
UrbanLegend711 03-17-2010, 03:42 PM Very nice sand boa! How are their temperaments? I had a rough-scale sand boa for a while and he was just mean, mean, mean. He'd bite and hold on as hard as he could...fat little bugger.
FloridaHogs 03-17-2010, 04:42 PM Nice looking group there!
anendeloflorien 03-17-2010, 04:48 PM They are great looking Quig!

Kim, these guys are mellow as hell. Only time you might get bit is trying to hand feed and a finger get mistaken for lunch. :D. They do have fairly long teeth too, so if they did connect it might get bloody :D
BallPythons9 03-17-2010, 05:58 PM Those look good Quig!
tokaysunlimited 03-17-2010, 06:07 PM Pretty cool there buddy!!!

Last time I looked Saharans were cheap too :D. I really only got into these and the Calabars because they were the egg layers in their perspective groups.

That does make them unique in the Boa clade for sure.
I have been facinated with the Calabars for years.

Calabars are another one that just WON'T bite, and if you have them set up right and feed em live you can witness a whole nuther way of constriction :D. Mostly I feed Cybil F/T though.

A friend of mine has Calabars and they are in like 8 inches of mulch substrate.....they sit with their noses barely visible and when the rat pups walk by...wham like a trap door spider....could see them constrict since they pulled the rat pup under the substrate

Now that's the way my Saharans behave. I've got one of those magnetic caves. Half goes inside, half goes outside. I put a couple live rat pups in itand she'll go in after them. She'll snatch one and press the other one to the side of the cave, suffocating it in the process, and hold it there till she's ready for seconds.
THe Saharans remind me of that old movie "Tremblors" I think it was called. Big sand worms poppin out and eatin' people :D

Naaaaaaa, I thought the name was really Tremblors for some reason. It's been years since I've seen it.

Would you believe they made four sequels? :p
I DO remember they made more than one. I just don't think I could sit through all four of those :lmao:
UrbanLegend711 03-17-2010, 09:29 PM Hahaaha...I've never seen it, but now I'm curious. :p

The third one they took to the air with explosive farts. No lie! :lmao: Maybe your saharans will evolve into the first airborn serpents propelled by natural gas. :p
