I don't understand why many hobbyist frown on crosses when everything under the sun is being so unnaturally captive bred. I don't see much difference unless you're breeding locality specific stuff to represent "wild populations" as nature intended without trying to alter the said animals appearance. That's my opinion anyway :)

Thats a good point. In my opinion, a lot of crosses (not just Boas) are ugly. I would rather have a good example of either parent then what they produce. I think as long as some folks are breeding "pure" animals to keep that alive for those who want them, then go for it.

I think that the biggest problem facing the crosses is that unfortunately, there are people out there who intentionally or unintentionally pass the animal on to someone else without the correct info on the lineage. I think that the crosses would be more widely accepted if there was a way to 100% track these things...

Just my 2 cents... No refunds...

OH! BTW... That is a smokin' hot little cross of a boa!

There are some crosses I think are really cool... I really dig the Woma python x Ball python cross... As far as boas are concerned, IMO, I like all the pure forms better than the crosses. I'd just rather have a nice pure Suri than the snake in the photo, no offense intended of course. The problem I have with crosses isn't with the 50%, it's with the higher percentages where you can't tell just by looking at the snake that it is a cross anymore. The reason I have a problem with that is because I'd like to know what I'm working with as much as I can, and I'd hope that a pure species would never become extinct before a cross. I do realize, however, that a lot can be subjective as far as what are their own species, or subspecies, or just locality types, and that classifications are always changing.

I think even the best Surinames can be crossed to make for something really wicked looking and I’ve had some killer Suri’s in my time.
If breeders were honest and the lineages traceable I don’t see a problem with crossing but again honesty is the key word here.

I like crosses and pure bloods. Some of the coolest boas were bred from crosses (Roswell's). Our population of boas will not save the wild population, so I wouldn't worry about that too much. Too may different sicknesses, out bred behaviors, lack of KNOWN local, etc. The list goes on and on. But I love the look of true locals.

That being said, I really like that cross. Killer colors.
