What type of Temp Gun is the best one to use?

i got one off of ebay for 25 shipped its the handhaeld gun type i use at work.........

You can get them at Harbor Freight as well

I have several varieties of ProTemp Gun from ProExotics. Love them! (one for each snake room!)

What type of gun did you buy on eBay. That is where I am looking but I don't want to order one that is garbage.

another PE1... it is great, and you get to support PE in the process which is always a good thing!

I will always support the industry but like i mentioned i need the one i can use at wotk also...........and my work requires a certain type of guns the rest of the company uses for QC (quality control) For my job which is specialty coatings.On government/city/county/state jobs.
when i get the chance i will buy one from pro exotics to keep in sake room but for now since i just got that temp gun and a Psychrometer Hygrometer ....to do Ambient temp,substrate temp,dry ball,wet ball,dew point,and relative humdidty checks every few hours.....all in a days work......

I point it, I push the button, I get the reading. Works everytime. Not sure why you would need a more expensive one.

PE1 here also works great.

The PE1 is an absolute no-brainer. I don't think I've ever spent $25 better. You get an accurate temperature reading in a second. I remember having to use crappy thermometers when setting and checking temps back in the day, trust me, it's frustrating beyond belief. Plus, for a herpers needs, there's nothing that the PE1 can't handle.

I have the 412L as well, works great. I do allot of business with Rich. Great guy!

The Raytec guns have been around for years and are a trusted brand but they are expensive. I have a friend that uses a raytec for his Rc engines. We tested it next to the PE-1 and it was rarely more than a half a degree off. For my money the PE-1 is hard to beat.

Got ours from lowes sperry 1rt100, would recommend getting one with a laser so it is exact pin-point...

I just got a Ryobi tek4 Infrared Thermometer it works really well. I also have a raytek and a Zilla Digital Infrared Thermometer to compare it to. The Ryobi works much better then both these on all levels, especially when it comes to reflective surfaces and distance.

WOW, got kinda butt hurt for someone pointing out the topic of this thread. :dunno: If you can't take a little criticism without acting like a 2 year old put in a timeout, maybe this isn't the place for you. :greenman:

I've just got the lower end model from RBI (http://reptilebasics.com/RBI-201-p-16245.html)but it works just fine for what I need :D Might upgrade at some point but for now it's just what I need :rockon:

Rich is a great guy. Buy all my T-stats from him as well as heat panels. He has some really nice panels. Can not go wrong with RBI.

I use the Sears Craftsman Laser Infrared Thermometer. The model number is 81998. It's good from 13.1 to 52.4 at temps from -20 to 1,400 degrees. The good part is, it's one of those Craftsman tools covered by Sears. I've actually had 2 replaced so far. Things still worked. You could get accurate readings and all, it's just that the spring in the trigger goes bad, and if your not careful the gun stays on and kills the batteries. Usually you can't miss the laser beam, but it's still defective in my eyes so time for a new one.
