JOHNS6068 06-19-2009, 06:37 PM Kinda hard to tell from picture.....but looks sorta similar to a garter snake though not a color I have ever seen before :dunno: FloridaHogs 06-19-2009, 06:39 PM No idea 13north 06-19-2009, 06:47 PM http://c1.ac-images.myspacecdn.com/images02/84/l_4337d35ecb844ffa8aadd58de6100910.jpg wasn't too sure myself on this one? Van 06-19-2009, 06:49 PM We call them Dekays Snakes here in Michigan, Ive seen some that had a Gray look to them also.. Its just a Common Brown Snake though.. I loved catching these as a Kid. They are so claim and Mellow, and easy to feed. I could go on about the little Guys..lol Van Tim 06-19-2009, 06:49 PM it really looks like a garter in terms of size and scales.. but I gotta agree with Van.. Van 06-19-2009, 07:34 PM There live beariers too, just like garters.. I have pictures somewhere that I can't seem to find right Now. But the babys are so small with a tiny ring or dot around thier Necks and they're really dark when born, almost black in color.. The biggest one I can remember was about 20 inches, and thats good size for a Dekays or Brown Snake. But Yes , that is deffently what that critter is. tokaysunlimited 06-19-2009, 07:40 PM Thats a Dekays!!!No doubt about it! Quig 06-19-2009, 08:02 PM Yup, DeKays. A 20 incher  I don't think i've ever seen one over 13 inches. And I thought THAT was a big one :wamma: 13north 06-19-2009, 10:58 PM So cool, thanks a million. I knew I could find answers here.... Serpents_Den 06-20-2009, 01:30 AM I remember back in the days catching these in the Kearny NJ meadows. The average adult was about 12 - 15" and the babies are like skinny little 3" worms. They're cool little snakes. FloridaHogs 06-20-2009, 06:53 AM I hate to ask, but did your friend kill it or just leave it alone? xanaxez 06-20-2009, 08:26 AM I'd say its a dekay also. does have some coloring of a garter snake though. did you pic it up and look at its belly? theres a few copper heads ive seen in N.C that it favors alot to but cant tell without seeing the belly on it. i wouldnt think its a copper head though considering how long the snout is on it. 13north 06-20-2009, 08:40 AM Nope, she is not into killing anything. She has pics of all kinds of wildlife she gets to see in her back yard. FloridaHogs 06-20-2009, 01:07 PM That is cool! Kudos to her. |
